Eric's Rehab Update - Week 1
DEAREST Family, brothers and sisters friends and much appreciated well wishers please excuse the silence.

Eric is navigating his first week at the long awaited neuro rehabilitation with such great determination. Whilst dealing with yet another sneaky infection - which thankfully has been less severe compared to previous ones - he's making some lovely strides adapting to life in rehab ….. sooo much to adapt to: a new routine, new faces that are slowly becoming familiar safe and caring faces of the staff, the traditional Indian food served at the rehab center and the physiotherapy as well. The blend of spices and flavors is a new experience for him, but Eric's getting accustomed to the local cuisine. This in itself has been an adventure 🌶️ 🫑 🇮🇳 🍵
On the Physio front, Eric is being an absolute star ⭐️ working so hard, completing five sessions a day. A delicate well balanced mix of OT and PT. He is working EXTRA HARD on improving his sitting balance, standing balance which also works on stabilizing his blood pressure, because as you may know when you have been sitting for prolonged periods and have a spinal cord injury low blood pressure is an ongoing battle 😥.
So for him to move onto a locomotive that mimics the walking action he has to be able to be upright at 75degrees for at least 10min ….. (*prayer point number 1*)🙏🙏
This is a *crucial part of his recovery*. Additionally, Eric is learning techniques that will help him gain more independence and autonomy - a key aspect of his rehab goals 🙏💪🏾💪🏾
No doubt, we miss home and the comforts of familiar surroundings, faces and our family natural and extended in which ever form or shape, but Eric came to rehab with a clear vision for his recovery and by *Gods grace* we will accomplish it. I must say there are days when all we see is smoke 💨 smoke 💨 and more smoke 💨 🔥 🔥 ha ha ha 😂 but the Lord is gracious and he sends us a word a message an encouragement through one of you or a Bible verse or meeting…. what we do know is that we are never alone!! We're praying that the Lord is leveling many, many mountains before us because mountains there are, sadly I can’t write everything down🥵🫢but in faith we are soldiering on!

Overall, Eric's first week has been a step in the right direction exciting scary all rolled in one.
Thank you 🙏 for cheering him on, thank you for the countless messages and love and prayers! We need them because we often say to each other
