The Portsea Surf Life Saving Club was formed in 1949 by a group of local residents to protect the lives of swimmers at the notoriously dangerous Mt. Levy Beach, commonly referred to as the Portsea Back Beach. Nepean National Park, which is managed by Parks Victoria. Since 1949 members have been responsible for saving over 4,500 lives on our beach. Since 1949 the Club has assisted over 1,500 young men and women to gain the Surf Life Saving Australia's coveted Bronze Medallion.

🏆 CLUB OF THE YEAR 🏆

We are beyond proud to share that Portsea SLSC has been named Lifesaving Victoria’s Club of the Year, taking home the Sir Frank Beaurepaire Shield, only the third time in our 76-year history!

This one belongs to everyone: our patrol members, trainers, officials, volunteers, parents and staff. Every single person who has worn the cap and shoulders the work has a hand on this Shield.

Huge congrats also to our finalists across the state: Jack Mitchell (Junior Lifesaver of the Year), Jack White (Assessor of the Year), Bev Thomas (Masters Athlete of the Year), our Nippers program (Nipper Program of the Year) and our Surf Academy (Innovation of the Year) 👏

We’ll be flying the Victorian flag at the SLSA Awards of Excellence in Sydney this November. Watch this space!!

🏊‍♀️🥇 POOL CHAMPS! 🥇🏊‍♀️

Huge congrats to our Portsea youth members Rose Buordolone and Camilla Klein, who represented Victoria at the RLSS Australian Pool Lifesaving Championships in Perth! Both girls were selected for Life Saving Victoria’s U14 and Development Team 👏

Rose, competing in her first winter season of pool lifesaving, proved to be a natural talent:
🥈 Silver, U14 Girls 50m Manikin Carry
🥉 Bronze, U14 Girls 100m Obstacle Race
🥉 Bronze, U14 Girls 100m Manikin Carry

Camilla brought her experience to the pool, finishing:
8th, U14 Girls 10m Line Throw
12th, U14 Girls 50m Manikin Carry
14th, U14 Girls 100m Obstacle Race

Pool lifesaving is swim racing with a twist: simulated rescues, manikin tows, obstacle courses and line throws. So proud of these two for flying the Portsea flag!

Portsea SLSC was proud to stand alongside the community at the Sorrento ANZAC Day March and Service, laying a wreath on behalf of all our members.

Today, we remember those who gave their lives in service of our country, those who returned home carrying the lasting impact of war, and all who have served. Lest we forget.

A special mention to Portsea Active Member and Wall of Famer Michael “Whippy” Wilson for reciting the Ode of Remembrance.

What a week at Aussies! 🌊☀️

Big congrats to our Open competitors — Katie taking 9th in the 2km run and backing up with Liv in the 2x1km, Cha, Matt and Chloe putting down some great performances in the double ski events, and Liv, Cha and Katie in the taplin!

See you on the Sunshine Coast next year! 🤙

From 6pm this Sunday, the Club is closing for our annual Captains Barrel! We’re celebrating our patrolling members and everything they’ve given this season 🙌🏼 Come down, get around it, and help us make it a great night!
