π¨ Tasmania Skilled Migration Program 2026β27 Update
If you're planning to apply for Tasmania State Nomination, there are several important changes you should know before submitting your Registration of Interest (ROI).
Here's a quick summary:
π
Program opens: 17 August 2026
π¨ Weekly invitation rounds start: 20 August 2026
π Nomination allocations for 2026β27:
* 1,250 places for Subclass 190
* 800 places for Subclass 491
* 2,050 nomination places in total
Migration Tasmania has also updated how applicants are assessed by:
β
Simplifying the priority attributes
β
Giving greater recognition to applicants with longer employment in Tasmania
β
Updating the scoring system to better reflect long-term contribution
β
Revising guidance for employment breaks and leave
β
Requiring at least 30 hours per week in one job to qualify for the TSE Gold priority attribute
β
Updating income thresholds in line with current Australian earnings (while the Priority Income Level remains unchanged)
Other important updates include:
π° The nomination application fee has increased to $387 (or $425.70 including GST), while submitting an ROI remains free.
π If you submitted an ROI within the last 6 months, you may wish to review your application. Under the new priority attribute rankings, withdrawing and submitting a new ROI could improve your chances of being selected.
π For offshore applicants: Tasmania will not issue invitations through the Subclass 491 Overseas Skilled Occupation Profiles (Invitation Only) pathway during the 2026β27 program year. However, overseas Health and Teaching professionals with a job offer from a Tasmanian employer may still be eligible for Subclass 190 State Nomination.
Migration Tasmania will also publish weekly updates showing invitation numbers, lowest invited scores, remaining nomination places, and the number of ROIs on hand, helping applicants better understand how competitive the program is throughout the year.
