Australia's Migration Planning
Levels for 2026-27 have officially been announced.
The Government has maintained the permanent Migration Program at 185,000 places, while continuing its strong focus on skilled migration and onshore applicants.
Key migration updates include:
- Approximately 70% of places allocated to skilled migration and 30% allocated to family migration
-Priority for migrants already living in Australia V Planned Points Test optimisation
- $85.2 million investment into skills assessments and licensing pathways for migrant trades workers
- Working Holiday Visa program reforms
-Measures aimed at improving skills recognition pathways
The Federal Budget also confirmed that offshore places will mainly target highly skilled migrants to help address Australia's long-term skill needs.
