Join us for AI in Libraries: Practical Leadership for a Changing Sector, featuring three experts at the forefront of AI in the library sector.

✅ Ian Wedlock: As a Digital and Frontline Services Manager, Ian brings extensive experience in AI-enabled learning services, online student support, digital capability programs, and continuous service improvement.

✅ Carlo Iacono: Based at Charles Sturt University Library, Carlo is also a member of the Attorney-General's Department AI and Copyright Reference Group. He will make the case that two goods stay scarce: the framing of questions before the machine answers, and a named person who stands behind the result.

✅ Professor Helen Partridge: A distinguished academic leader in digital learning, Helen’s research explores how people engage with information and technology to learn across life contexts. She will encourage librarians to decide, to be the accountable experts in the room, in policy, in practice, in every decision being made about AI.

This week, CAVAL hosted a special event to celebrate and acknowledge the contributions of frontline library staff.

The day also gave participants the opportunity to explore career opportunities through a range of professional development activities, including a panel discussion, an interactive workshop, and a library tour.

It was a meaningful day that highlighted the important work of frontline staff, whose efforts often go unseen. By shining a light on their contributions, we could better appreciate the impact they have on libraries and the communities they serve every day.

Recently, CAVAL and the Indigenous Archives Collective launched the 2nd edition of the Indigenous Knowledges Attribution Toolkit (IKAT).

Dr Rose Barrowcliffe and Nathan mudyi Sentance delivered an insightful presentation on the toolkit's updates and the review process behind this latest edition.

The launch attracted 250+ attendees, highlighting the growing interest in respectful acknowledgement and attribution of Indigenous Knowledges.
