"Do You Know This Church?"A Sanctuary of Miracles and History ✨
The Name: translates directly to "Miracles" in Portuguese. Generations of Mangaloreans have attributed answered prayers to Our Lady of Miracles (Milar Saibeen).
⛪The Heart of HampankattaThe Ancient Roots: Founded way back in 1680 by Bishop Thomas de Castro. The land was originally gifted by Queen Keladi Chennamma of Bednore.A Tale of Resilience: The original historic structure was destroyed by Tipu Sultan in 1784 during the Captivity. It was beautifully rebuilt in 1811 after the community returned home.The Architecture: The current towering facade, built in 1911 after a partial monsoon collapse, features a stunning Romanesque-Gothic style. The structure is modeled after the iconic St. Peter's Basilica in Rome!
