It is run by Sipporah and Projoul Lama, a wonderful couple devoted to the children’s education and welfare. The school consisits of only one building, yet 330 students aged 3 to 16 attend, including 30 boarders. Compared to our 1st world standards, there are many disparities in the quality of education received in a 3rd world country like Nepal - The classrooms are cramped, class sizes are larger
and teachers do not have the same qualification standards. Teachers are not always available to take scheduled classes and facilities such as libraries, computer labs and science labs are not of an acceptable standard, if they exsist at all. Electricity and running water is not always available and pollution and dust fill the air. After visiting this school and spending time with the students and teachers, we saw that there was a need to improve the educational opportunities available to these students. Out of this need we have established the Nirmal Education Foundation. This is a foundation started by students who recognised that education is vital in ending the cycle of poverty in Nepal. Learning English and being able to communicate on a global scale is an essential skill in improving the standard of living. Through improving the facilities that are available to the school, it is our hope that the educational standards of the school can be improved, and so too can the future of the students.
