👶📚 More kindergarten places for local families in the Tooradin Ward!

Did you know that the Tooradin Ward has the highest number of kindergarten enrolments across the City of Casey? As our communities continue to grow, so does the demand for quality early years education close to home.

That’s why it’s fantastic to see a second room open at Kulap Kindergarten, creating more local kinder places for families. Across the Tooradin Ward, there are six sessional kindergartens, with Kulap currently the only service able to expand during the year to help meet growing demand.

It was wonderful to visit Ramlegh Park Primary School and speak with the Grade 2 students about the work Council does for our community.

Across several sessions, we discussed how Council plans and delivers projects such as parks, playgrounds, accessible public spaces and community facilities.

I was incredibly impressed by the students’ curiosity, thoughtful questions and creative ideas. They asked some fantastic questions about Council and even shared suggestions for future projects - including what may be Casey’s most exciting proposal yet: a SpongeBob Museum!

Thank you to Ramlegh Park Primary School for the invitation and for giving me the opportunity to engage with such bright and enthusiastic young minds ✨

It was a pleasure to recently join in celebrating our community services volunteers at the Volunteer Recognition Event hosted by Council, as part of National Volunteer Week.

Our volunteers play an important role in helping residents stay connected and supported. Their dedication, kindness and willingness to help others make a real difference every day.

It was also wonderful to recognise a number of long-serving volunteers for their years of service and commitment. Their contribution to our community over many years is greatly appreciated.

A big thank you to all our volunteers. Casey is a stronger and more connected community because of the work you do đź’ś

A lovely visit to the Cranbourne Shire Historical Society Museum in Tooradin, where I was fortunate to be given a guided tour by Barry (pictured left).

The museum is home to a remarkable collection preserving local history, including the original 1870s fisherman’s cottage, a one-teacher school display, and a shed filled with antique farming and fishing displays. It’s a real credit to the dedication of the volunteers who have maintained and expanded this space since the Society began in 1968.

Thank you to the Cranbourne Shire Historical Society for the invitation and warm welcome. I encourage everyone in our community to take the time to visit and experience this important piece of local heritage firsthand ✨

🌙 Stay active after dark at Casey Fields

I’m excited to see the Casey Fields Regional Athletics Centre included in Council’s Active After Dark program – opening up this fantastic facility for the community to enjoy during the evenings.

As the days get shorter, having well-lit, high-quality spaces like this makes it easier for people of all ages and abilities to stay active, train, or simply get outdoors and moving.

📍 Casey Fields Regional Athletics Centre
160 Berwick–Cranbourne Road, Cranbourne East

Whether you’re going for a run on the track or spending time with family and friends, come on down and stay active this winter.

🚦 Great News for Clyde Residents – Pattersons Road & Tuckers Road Intersection 🚦

You may recall the Urgent Business Motion I raised at the October Council Meeting, calling on the Department of Transport and Planning to urgently assess and approve Council’s traffic signal change application for the intersection of Pattersons Road and Tuckers Road in Clyde North. More details can be found in my previous post via the following link: https://www.facebook.com/share/p/1TFZNVWi9r/?mibextid=wwXIfr

Since then, I have continued fighting for real improvements at this intersection due to ongoing safety concerns for drivers making right-turns, a long-standing issue raised with me by the community.

I am pleased to share that Council has recently completed signal upgrades at this intersection, delivering important safety improvements for motorists and making travel through this busy intersection easier. The upgraded signals will help create a safer environment for all road users.

I’m pleased to see this important improvement delivered for our growing community. It’s another example of Casey investing in safer roads and responding to local concerns.

Thank you to everyone who took the time to raise this issue and support calls for action.

Mayor, Cr Stefan Koomen JP - City of Casey

Thank you to everyone who stopped by our Building a Better Casey in-person listening post at Casey Fields recently and took the time to share your views and priorities for our community. It was great speaking with residents and hearing directly about the issues that matter most to you and your family.

These conversations are so important as we continue advocating for better roads, improved public transport, accessible health services, more local jobs, improved community safety, the community infrastructure Casey needs as we continue to grow and many more.

Wonderful to attend the Mother’s Day Festival and Family Day and Community Car Boot Sale Fundraiser celebrating family, culture and community connection, while honouring the incredible mothers and mother-figures in our community.

It was fantastic to see so many families supporting local businesses and stallholders while enjoying cultural performances, activities and community spirit throughout the day.

Thank you to Pinoy Casey Community Inc. for hosting this wonderful event, in partnership with Australian-Filipino Community Services and Mabuhay Filipino Playgroup 🌸
