☕❤️ A LITTLE IDEA CAN MAKE A BIG DIFFERENCE!

Sometimes, making a difference in your community can be as simple as a cup of coffee.

Back in May, the wonderful team at The Kitchen Tootgarook launched their 20 Cent Tuesdays initiative, donating just 20 cents from every hot drink sold on a Tuesday to Southern Peninsula Community Support.

Such a simple idea, but look how it's grown! 🌟

☕ 5,408 hot drinks sold

❤️ $1,081.60 raised for our local community!

And the best part? It's still growing, one coffee at a time.

We are so grateful to Bob and the entire team at The Kitchens, and of course their wonderful customers, for showing that small contributions really do add up to something special.

What could your business do to help those in our community who are doing it tough?

It doesn't need to be a big fundraising event or an enormous commitment. Maybe it's a small donation from every sale, a weekly special that gives back, or a creative little idea that's uniquely yours.

Because when our local businesses and community come together, even the smallest ideas can grow into something wonderful. ❤️

The Midday Power Saver is available to households from 1 October 2026, offering 3 hours of no-cost electricity between 11 am and 2 pm every day.

You will need to speak with your energy provider to opt into the program.

The Victorian Government has announced the Victorian Midday Power Saver which will give consumers 3 hours of electricity free-of-charge in the middle of the day.

💚 A little goes a long way when we come together! 💚

Meet the wonderful Fifty to Infinity exercise group from Mount Martha Community House! 🌟

Every week, this amazing group gets together to stay active, connect with friends and do something pretty special for their community.

Alongside their weekly exercise sessions, they collect essential food and everyday items to donate to our Emergency Relief Program here at Southern Peninsula Community Support (SPCS).

It's such a beautiful example of how a group of people, coming together with a shared purpose, can make a real difference to the lives of others. 💕

And it's got us thinking… could your group do something similar?

Whether you're part of a walking group, book club, sporting club, community group or simply a group of friends who catch up regularly, imagine the difference you could make by collecting just a few essential items each time you meet.

We would absolutely love to come and meet your group! 💚

We can share a little about the work we're doing at SPCS, the challenges facing people in our local community and the many ways you can get involved.

Not long now! Make sure to get down to the Point Nepean Heritage Motor Show on Sunday 1st November - it's a great day out with the most amazing array of vehicles (and lots of other stuff going on) and proceeds go towards supporting people experiencing homelessness. It's a win-win!

Three and a half weeks until the 2026 Akambo Point Nepean Heritage Motor Show. Here's what's on.

Sunday 1 November, Quarantine Station, Point Nepean National Park. Gates open 10am, presentations 1.30pm, wraps at 2pm.

Entry is $10 per adult. Kids under 16 are free. Live music, food vans, a scavenger hunt for the kids and an event village, all set against the bay.

Funds raised goes towards the Rotary Club of Sorrento's charitable work, with Southern Peninsula Community Support and its programs for people experiencing homelessness on the Peninsula the key beneficiary.

Come and find the Akambo stand in the event village and say hello!

When did we last post to thank the amazing crew at RACV Cape Schanck Resort ?? We don't even know, we are so snowed under here! We never forget them though!! It's usually Shane who appears at the Pantry on a Friday with crates of delicious meals the team has cooked and packaged, labelled and frozen for those doing it tough in our community. We love being able to give these meals out, knowing they're nutritious AND delicious ❤️🍽️😋 Enormous gratitude to Karl and Shane and all at RACV Cape Schanck Resort - we love you guys!

This is pretty amazing! Meet Sophie and Freya, they had a school project around supporting a cause - they chose rough sleeping and decided to support our Homeless Connections program with equipment to help people living rough. How did they raise the funds? They organised and promoted a bake sale at Sorrento Primary School, and single-handedly (okay, double-handedly) baked so many cookies and other goodies they raised over $1000 to purchase what they needed! Just WOW! Massive, massive thanks to Sophie and Freya for this incredible effort and to all the families at Sorrento PS for such wonderful support ❤️🍪🍪🍪❤️

What a beautiful celebration of young creativity and community 💜🎨

We were delighted to attend the opening of Our Mornington Peninsula, a wonderful exhibition by This Artful Life at the Community Arts Space, Mornington Library.

Every artwork in the exhibition has been collaboratively created by This Artful Life students aged 7–16 during 2026, showcasing their incredible talent and their connection to our beautiful Mornington Peninsula.

Even more special, 100% of the proceeds from the charity auction will be shared equally between Southern Peninsula Community Support, helping us continue our work supporting people experiencing homelessness and hardship across our community & Mornington Peninsula Koala Group, supporting local tree planting.

We were also incredibly touched to receive the beautiful handmade ceramic heart artwork pictured here as a gift for our Centre. 💜

The messages of “Safe Home,” “Everyone Needs a Bed” and “Homes Needed” are such a meaningful reflection of the work we do.

Thank you to Katrina and the talented young artists at This Artful Life - we will proudly display it at SPCS.
