Mornington Peninsula Shire Mayor Cr Stephen Batty dropped in to catch up with our CEO, Jeremy. With him was Chris Munro, Manager-Community Partnerships, many things were discussed but there was a particular focus on the rough sleeper challenges.
This years Mayoral Charity event Tee off for a good cause on Monday 26 October at Peppers Moonah Links is raising funds for the three Community Support Centres.

💙 Community supporting community 💙

A huge thank you to the wonderful team at Rosebud Rotary Warehouse for their incredibly generous $5,000 donation to support our SPLaSh program.

This gift came about in such a lovely way. A few weeks ago, our wonderful volunteer Marilyn, who is also a Rotary member, stepped in at short notice to speak to the Club about her volunteering with Southern Peninsula Community Support and the work of SPLaSh.

Her story clearly resonated, and we are so grateful that Rotary Rosebud-Rye has chosen to support this important program.

Their generosity doesn’t stop there either. Through the Rotary Warehouse, the Club regularly assists us with household goods and essential items for people who are moving into housing or struggling to replace the basics they need.

These local partnerships make such a difference. They are built on people learning more about what is happening in their own community and then asking, “How can we help?”

Thank you to President Gael, Marilyn and everyone at Rotary Rosebud-Rye for continuing to stand alongside us and our community. We are incredibly grateful. 💙

💛 Together, we changed lives.

In another record-breaking financial year, our community came together to provide more than 20,000 occasions of support and over $1.35 million worth of food, emergency relief and material aid to people doing it tough or living rough across the Southern Peninsula.

A huge thank you to Annie and the wonderful Sew n Sews! 🧵💛

The Sew n Sews are an amazing group of women who create and sell beautiful handmade craft items, with all proceeds going back to support local charities and community organisations.

We were so grateful to recently receive their generous support, which enabled us to purchase Easy Food Packs and excellent-quality sleeping bags for people sleeping rough in our community.

These are such practical and important items for the people we support - providing something to eat when cooking facilities aren’t available, and warmth and protection during cold nights outdoors.

Annie, please pass on our heartfelt thanks to all of your wonderful sewers. Your time, creativity and generosity are making a very real difference to local people doing it tough. 💛

❤️ THIS is community. ❤️

We had the privilege of visiting Red Hill FNC to speak with their players and families about Southern Peninsula Community Support, the growing number of people experiencing homelessness on the Mornington Peninsula, and the very real need we are seeing every day.

What happened next absolutely blew us away.

The club put the call out to its footballers, netballers, supporters and families to create Easy Food Packs for people living in cars, tents, sleeping rough or simply doing it incredibly tough.

And they turned up. 💛

Walking in and seeing table after table overflowing with bags of food was quite overwhelming.

Every pack represents someone in our community being able to eat.
Someone knowing that people care.
Someone receiving a little bit of dignity and kindness during a very difficult time.

At SPCS, demand for food and emergency relief continues to grow, so donations like this make an enormous difference to our ability to keep helping people when they need us most.

To everyone at Red Hill Football Netball Club - thank you. Your generosity, compassion and willingness to act has genuinely blown us away.

This is what being part of a community is all about. Not just seeing that there is a problem, but asking:

“What can we do to help?”

And then doing it. ❤️

We are so incredibly grateful.

Robodebt news: If you had a Centrelink debt between 2003 and 2020 that was linked to your employment income, you may be eligible for a compensation payment of up to $600.

The Federal Government has set up the Income Apportionment Resolution Scheme to redress debts that were calculated via an illegal method.

Huge shout out to Rotary Club of Sorrento for their wonderful efforts in supporting our SPLaSh program. Here we have Colin and Richard preparing the BBQ, Denise setting up and David serving - what a team! They come down every fortnight and cook up a feast for people without a home who attend SPLaSh, and it is greatly appreciated by all. Even more generously the whole club puts in a monumental amount of work to run the Point Nepean Heritage Motor Show every year on the Melbourne Cup weeked (on the Sunday - put that in your diary!!) and then donates the profits to the running of SPLaSh. AND their club regularly brings in a huge pile of toiletries, all donated by members, to support our Emergency Relief program. We are so incredibly grateful for their ongoing generosity and support, it means so much to have this fabulous team behind us, and going by the photos they're enjoying it too - it's a win, win!! ❤️⭐🚗🌭🧴⭐❤️

Here's some photos from the last few wonderful deliveries from the team at RACV Cape Schanck Resort - legends all round! Jamie, Tiffany and two other fabulous RACV staff (we didn't get their names - please comment if you know who they are!!) all dropped in on various Fridays with crates full of delicious frozen meals for us to give out to people who are struggling. Massive thanks as ever to the dedicated team at RACV Cape Schanck Resort ❤️😍
