ZOE Foundation Australia support the global mission of ZOE International to prevent child trafficking and exploitation, rescue children from slavery and restore and bring new LIFE to child survivors and at-risk children in out-of-home care. ZOE combats child trafficking by preventing children from human trafficking, rescuing child victims of human trafficking and exploitation, and restoring the lives of child survivors and at-risk orphans. ZOE combines the experience gained from working with child trafficking survivors with current anti-trafficking research, methodologies, and implementations from around the world. ZOE continues to adapt with innovative solutions in the key areas of prevention, rescue, and restoration. ZOE Foundation Australia (established in 2011) is part of the global work of ZOE International (established 2002). ZFA promotes, communicate about, and funds the work of ZOE internationally in the areas of: prevention, rescue, restoration, missions and leadership. Since 2002, ZOE International has been reaching people with the gospel and combating child trafficking by working directly with children and youth who have been exploited. Behind so much of what happens at ZOE Australia are some pretty incredible volunteers.

They give their time, share their skills, roll up their sleeves and help in more ways than we could possibly count.

From helping at events and supporting projects to tackling practical jobs, lending their expertise and stepping in wherever there’s a need, our volunteers make an enormous difference.

Some contributions are visible, while others happen quietly behind the scenes. But every act of generosity helps move ZOE’s mission forward.

We genuinely couldn’t do all that we do without them.

What do all these people have in common?

They could all be safe people in a child’s life. But their position, profession or title alone doesn’t guarantee that they are.

The uncomfortable truth is that people who harm children can come from any profession, background or walk of life.

A doctor. A teacher. A coach. A babysitter. A family member. Someone respected, admired or trusted by their community.

A position of trust does not automatically make someone trustworthy.

Someone can appear friendly, kind and trustworthy, but it’s their behaviour, not their appearance or reputation, that matters.

That’s why it’s so important to teach children about Tricky People and the characteristics of a safe person.

Children need to understand that being safe isn’t about someone’s job, appearance or popularity. It’s about how that person behaves.

Does this person respect their boundaries? Do they listen when a child says no? Do they encourage unsafe secrets, or make a child feel uncomfortable? Do they take children seriously when they speak up?

When children learn to recognise safe and unsafe behaviours, they’re better equipped to identify when something isn’t right and seek help.

And as adults, it’s our responsibility to listen, respond and create environments where children are genuinely safe.

Because keeping children safe isn’t about assuming who is safe.

It’s about recognising what safety looks like.

Sometimes connection doesn’t need words.

Something as simple as making paper planes can bring people together, no matter what language they speak.

A little creativity, a few folds, some laughter and the joy of watching a paper plane take flight!

At ZOE, we know that restoration is about more than providing a safe place. It’s also about creating opportunities for connection, building trust and helping children experience the joy of simply being a child.

Sometimes it’s these small, everyday moments of play and laughter that help children feel safe, valued and that they belong.

Because healing happens through relationships, and connection doesn’t always need words.

One week. Eighteen Australians. An unforgettable experience at ZOE Thailand!

In September, 18 Australians travelled to ZOE Thailand for a week-long Vision and Donor Trip, experiencing firsthand the incredible work being done to prevent child trafficking, rescue children and restore lives.

From prevention activities at a remote village school and English classes to games, sports and time spent with ZOE families, it was a week full of learning, connection and meaningful experiences.

Along the way, the group gained a deeper understanding of ZOE’s work, met the people behind the programs and saw the impact of their support firsthand.

They may have arrived as donors and supporters, but they returned home as friends, with shared memories, a deeper connection to ZOE’s mission and an even greater commitment to seeing child trafficking end.

When children experience online sexual harm, who are they turning to for help?

New Australian research into online child sexual victimisation and help-seeking has revealed some concerning findings.

🔸 More than 1 in 7 young people experienced online sexual victimisation before turning 18.

🔸 Among those who experienced online sexual victimisation, disclosure to AI was more common than disclosure to an authority, including teachers, doctors, counsellors and police.

🔸 Nearly 1 in 3 who experienced online sexual victimisation did not disclose their experience.

🔸 1 in 6 young people sought personal or psychosocial help from AI at least once a week.

These findings remind us how important it is that children have trusted people they can turn to when something doesn’t feel right.

AI might provide information or advice, but it cannot replace a safe adult who can listen, respond and take action to protect a child.

Children need to know who their safe people are, how to ask for help, and that they will be heard when they speak up.

And as parents, teachers and trusted adults, we have a responsibility to create environments where children feel safe to share their concerns.

Because when something happens in real life, children need real people who can help.

What an incredible time of community, connection and coming together for a cause that matters so much.
