The union said the management’s offer comes after 280 jobs were axed at the company in the last 18 months amid claims some staff haven’t received a pay rise in seven years.

The FSU has encouraged staff to vote ‘no’ and called on management to work with staff and the union on an improved offer that ensures guaranteed pay rises for all staff, retention of rostered days off (RDO) and guarantees new staff are no worse off than existing staff.

Most people assume speaking to a sexual assault counsellor is confidential. Unfortunately, this is not the case.

If a complaint goes to court, defence lawyers may issue a subpoena for their counselling files. Defence lawyers argue the files may have ‘substantial probative value’ or there is a ‘public interest’. However, defence lawyers do not know if this is the case until they receive the files.

The consequences can be devastating.

FSU national secretary Julia Angrisano said the RBA would fail to attract or retain the specialised staff it needed without a competitive pay rise.

“RBA employees know they are worth more than what they are currently getting, and the proposed below-inflation pay rise will only accelerate the brain drain of top talent to private sector banks and overseas central banks who are prepared to pay properly,” Angrisano said.

The union also provided statements from several unnamed RBA staff members, one of whom said the deal amounted to a real wage cut. “As an organisation full of economists, management obviously knows this. The offer, therefore, presents a very negative view of the value that RBA staff are providing,” they said.

Westpac has increased lender sales targets by up to 33% without consultation, with workers warning the changes could drive burnout and force experienced lenders out of the industry. The FSU is calling on Westpac to work with staff on fair and realistic targets.

“I’m concerned that the 50% mandate is going to increase to 80%. I have two kids and the additional commute time is having a negative impact on my work life balance and puts unnecessary stress on my family."

This worker lives 85 km from the office. They joined Commonwealth Bank when work was completely remote and there was no indication from CBA that this would change. Since then, they have been required to change their arrangements to meet the 50% in-office requirements.
