ECA Victoria Members Event
The Power of Storytelling in Education
ECA Victoria Committee invites ECA Victoria Members to a complimentary interactive professional learning session, to explore how storytelling can be shared through art, music and oral traditions.
Led by Ganga Giri, a descendant of the Palawa people of Tasmania and the Bunurong people of Victoria, educators will experience different forms of storytelling in action and discover practical, respectful ways to use them to support children’s learning, imagination, cultural understanding and connection.
Come along to connect with fellow educators and to explore:
- The role of storytelling in sharing knowledge, values, identity, culture and connection
- Storytelling through oral traditions: how voice, rhythm, repetition and participation can engage children and support learning
- Storytelling through music and sound: how music, rhythm and sound can convey emotion, create atmosphere and become part of the storytelling experience
- Storytelling through visual art: how colour, pattern, imagery and symbols can communicate ideas and meaning, including respectful approaches to sharing First Nations perspectives.
