Our Story
Salome’s Circle is a Melbourne-based peer support and advocacy community group for s*xually explicit entertainers that are currently or who have worked in the state of Victoria, Australia. Sexually explicit entertainment is acknowledged under the umbrella of ‘Sex Work’ as a form of s*xualised labour. Membership is inclusive of those working in strip clubs/agencies, topless waitress/bar venues, peep show establishments, p**n, camming and beyond; although the focus has historically been centred on strippers/exotic dancers working in clubs and agencies.
Salome’s Circle was in part created to address the lack of local support for s*xually explicit entertainers in Victoria. Salome’s Circle members collaboratively engage in disseminating relevant industry-specific information/knowledge, creating resources relevant to community interest/need, advocating for greater rights for s*xually explicit entertainers specifically, and for all s*x workers more broadly, and actively challenge stigma and discrimination associated with work in the s*x industry.
