Don’t treat kids like adults is about raising awareness of the urgent need for better and kinder cancer treatments for children.

Current treatments are just too harsh on young bodies.

The only way we will change this is to invest in the research to uncover better and kinder treatments.

Our new childhood cancer awareness campaign is live. 📣

The imagery is powerful, and the message is critical.

Most people simply aren’t aware that almost all childhood cancer treatments were originally designed for adults.

𝗕𝘂𝘁 𝗮𝗱𝘂𝗹𝘁 𝗰𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲𝗿 𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗷𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝘁𝗼𝗼 𝗵𝗮𝗿𝘀𝗵 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗸𝗶𝗱𝘀!

80% of children who survive cancer have long-term or even life-long effects from their treatment.

Side effects include vision and hearing loss, organ damage, infertility, and secondary cancers.

We need kinder and better treatments.

Cummins&partners, Starcom Worldwide and The Civic Partnership have been an absolute force in helping us raise awareness to create the change that is needed.

Because when it comes to cancer treatment, we can’t treat kids like adults.

Identifying new therapies for childhood cancer is one of our big goals.

We’re proud to support CCCoLab and the Next-Generation Precision Medicine Program, to accelerate the research that will identify more effective, personalised treatment options for children with the most difficult-to-treat cancers.

The latest edition of Rarity Life, produced by Same but Different, is out and features an article on our Children’s Cancer Foundation Ambassador, Taylah Miranda. Rarity Life is full of articles, stories, real life experiences and images of people who live with, and have experiences of rare disease, disability and cancer.

In this, the 12th edition, Taylah’s story ‘The Different Versions of Me’, talks of her experience of being twice diagnosed and treated for Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia – the first at just 14 years old, and then again at 19.

Rarity Life is an inclusive magazine, one of shared experiences, advice and inspiration – if you have a moment, do have a read: https://www.samebutdifferentcic.org.uk/raritylife

✨It’s time. ✨

With clarity and confidence, we’re stepping into a new phase and evolving our logo from the ‘sunshine’ to a ‘helping hand’.

While the sunshine has served us well, we’re turning people’s attention to the fact that we need to be treating kids more gently.

Currently, most children with cancer endure harsh, toxic adult treatments. THIS MUST CHANGE.

Across cultures, hands represent care and comfort, reinforcing our commitment to treating children carefully and softly.

We’re on a mission to raise awareness and create kinder treatments and child-friendly cancer therapies that ensure children survive and thrive.

Over the coming months we’ll be making some noise (in a good way), with more big changes ahead.

It’s time to bring more attention to childhood cancer.

An enormous thank you to leaders in their fields; Cummins and Partners, Civic Group, Starcom Worldwide who are helping us to take the issue of Children’s Cancer to greater awareness and prominence in Australia.
