Omid Cultural Association

The Omid (hope) Cultural Association is a not-for-profit community-based agency, established in May 2014. We provide consultation, information and support to the community in Victoria, particularly to those who reside in the southern region of Melbourne, including the City of Greater Dandenong, City of Casey and Shire of Cardinia. We assist the community through undertaking projects, activities an

d events to break down the barriers to social, cultural and educational engagement. We encourage cultural dialogue and understanding within our diverse community through education and activities that embrace the celebration of heritage in an Australian context. In addition, we advocate on behalf of the community at local, state and federal levels to raise awareness about the issues affecting our community, refugees and asylum seekers, and the wider community. We also provide consultation, support and information sessions to the community, to the newly arrived members of the community, for refugees and asylum seekers to address their resettlement, family violence, housing, immigration, mental health, employment, education, cultural and social needs to break down the barriers to social, cultural and educational engagement. In addition, our Dari/Hazaragi and English monthly magazine (the Rawzana) provides an educational support and addresses the challenges the community may face.
