Last week was World Mental Health Day โ€“ a day to raise awareness and encourage action for mental health across all communities.

ICV prepared a khutbah for World Mental Health Day and shared it with all our members. It was also delivered at ICV City Mosque.

Taking care of our mental health is vital to our overall wellbeing, yet many continue to struggle in silence due to stigma, lack of support, or cultural barriers. This day reminds us to check in on one another, to speak with compassion, listen without judgment, and create a community where seeking help is okay and encouraged.

If you're struggling, please know that you are not alone. For immediate support, call 000 or Lifeline on 13 11 14. For non-urgent support from within the Muslim community:
โ€ข Centre for Muslim Wellbeing (CMW): 0472 668 010, cmw.org.au
โ€ข Six Degrees: sixdegrees.org.au

Together, we can build a more understanding, caring, and connected community.

Anti-Muslim hate is rising in Victoria, and ICV will keep calling it out and supporting the people who experience it. Our panel discussion looked at the challenges facing Muslim communities in regional Victoria, where prejudice can run deep, and why lasting change needs conversations across our differences. As the Qur'an reminds us, โ€œWe made you into nations and tribes so that you may know one anotherโ€ (49:13). Thank you to our panellists and moderator.
