Thank you to everyone who joined us for our screening of SILENCED on Sunday.
We were so pleased to have 80+ members of our WAMily come together for this powerful and thought-provoking documentary - and grateful for the compassionate conversations that followed about sexual assault, survivors’ voices, justice and the systems that can silence or further harm those who speak out.
A special commendation to Selina Miles for creating a film that asks important questions about power, accountability and the narratives we accept as truth.
SILENCED also challenges us to consider the role of media, public commentary and group thinking in shaping perceptions of sexual violence. The stories and perspectives that are amplified can perpetuate myths and attitudes that cause real harm, particularly to survivors.
As an organisation working to raise awareness of gendered justice and advocate for systemic change, we value work that challenges those narratives and creates space for difficult conversations.
