My thoughts are with Abigail, age 21, and her family, as they face this devastating situation, especially on Christmas Day. Reading Abigail’s story brings back memories of our experience 19 years ago, and I can confidently say that I would never wish this insidious disease on any family.
Melanoma does not discriminate based on age. It can affect children as young as 5 or teenagers aged 15, and if not caught early, it can be deadly. Regular skin examinations are vital, especially for individuals with a family history of skin cancer or those who have experienced multiple sunburns throughout their lives. It is essential to acknowledge that melanoma is not solely a disease affecting older adults, as is commonly believed. 🩷🙏🏼
Abigail lives in South Australia just 21 years old and yesterday on Christmas Day got a call from her oncologists saying she now sadly has melanoma tumours in brain😢
Just a month ago Abigail had a large tumour removed from her lung but they could only remove 98% as it was too close to her spine.
Let’s send all the strength and support in the world if you read this right now.
Also if you know any information about the NRAS mutation which is what Abigail has, please reach out as doctors have basically said there is nothing they can do now.
We need to rally around this family and help if we can😢
