Homelessness isn't a choice. It's the result of systems that are failing people.

At BANSIC, we are committed to addressing injustice and inequity. Right now, Australia's housing crisis is pushing more people on low incomes into housing stress and homelessness. Too many people are being forced to choose between paying the rent, buying food or keeping the lights on.

This Homelessness Week, we invite our community to look beyond stereotypes and recognise that homelessness can affect anyone. Join us in challenging stigma, treating every person with dignity and respect, and calling for a future where everyone has access to a safe, secure and affordable home.

A big thank you to It's The Little Things Community for partnering with BANSIC to help address the unique needs of people experiencing homelessness in our community.

Through their generous donation of Meal Essentials Packs, we've been able to provide practical items that help people access and enjoy meals with greater comfort and dignity.

Thank you for helping make a meaningful difference, one small act of kindness at a time.

A huge thank you to the Diamond Valley Superules Football Club for raising an incredible $2,800 for BANSIC at their annual Gala Fundraising Evening! 💙

The live auction was so much fun and every dollar raised will help BANSIC continue supporting our community. Congratulations to all the lucky auction winners, we hope you're enjoying your amazing new artwork! 🎉🖼️

It was also great to run into friends from Community Bank East Ivanhoe and Heidelberg who are wonderful supporters of both the club and BANSIC.

BANSIC had the pleasure of joining the Heidelberg branch of the Country Women's Association (CWA) at their June monthly cook off to help prepare delicious home-cooked meals for our Food Hub.

The Heidelberg CWA are great friends of BANSIC and we are so grateful for all of their support, Our Manager Jordy was delighted to spend time with their team cooking and connecting over a shared goal of supporting our community.

Thanks to the incredible efforts of the Heidelberg CWA volunteers, an amazing 221 home-cooked meals were prepared for our Food Hub. We're so grateful for the time, care, and generosity that went into every meal.

Thank you for helping us support our community, one meal at a time. 💙🧡

Strong communities need strong local voices.

We were pleased to welcome Minister Nick Staikos MP and Anthony Carbines MP to BANSIC to share the realities facing people in our community and discuss how we can work together to create lasting change.

Thank you for taking the time to visit and learn more about the difference local community organisations make. We look forward to continuing the conversation and working together to strengthen support for our community.

This month we were delighted to welcome Councillor Alicia Curry (Ibbott Ward) to the BANSIC Food Hub.

It was a wonderful opportunity to share the work our team and volunteers do each week to support local individuals and families through nutritious meals, fresh food, and community connection.

A heartfelt thank you to Councillor Curry for taking the time to visit, listen, and learn more about the impact being made every day at BANSIC.

At BANSIC, our work is grounded in caring for community. We recognise that this commitment has been lived by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples for thousands of years through their care for Country, community and one another.

This NAIDOC Week, we honour that enduring legacy, celebrate the achievements of First Nations peoples, and acknowledge the ongoing care, knowledge and leadership that continue to strengthen communities today.

NAIDOC Week is also an opportunity for all of us to listen, learn and deepen our understanding of First Nations histories and cultures. We encourage our community to take part in a local NAIDOC Week event, reflect on how each of us can contribute to reconciliation, and continue learning beyond this week.

Introducing Jordy Bradley as the Manager of Banyule Support and Information Services (BANSIC).
Driven by a deep dedication to social justice, Jordy brings over a decade of experience in diverse roles in the not-for-profit and community sectors, across Australia and Asia.

Prior to joining BANSIC Jordy spent five years at the Parliament of Victoria as a community engagement advisor, advocating for and working alongside community groups and residents in Melbourne.

We are excited to welcome Jordy to BANSIC, and we look forward with anticipation to the future under her leadership.
