2011, was the beginning of the journey at RCK, our aim was to connect different parts of the community, breaking down social isolation and promoting affordable healthy food choices. Christine’s approach is through interactive connections, giving participants skills not only for work but for life. The unique environment provided the participants the opportunity to get involved in the establishment

of a small herb garden and developing skills through cooking & asset maintenance. Today our mission remains the same, with added activities and growth plans. Our work experience participants have the opportunity to gain vocationally relevant skills across a diverse range of occupation groups. A range of activities are available that build transferable skills not only for work but life in general. We strive to have fun whilst building work ready and work fit skills that cross to every part of life so that participants become more self sufficient and active in their local community. Our community lunches on Thursdays are well supported with much banter and animated conversations around shared tables. We are part of the Healthy together Knox initiative promoting low salt, no salt and low sugar cooking. Our cooking from scratch initiative and food swap/share aims to provide the knowledge for the needy in our local community to provide affordable, healthy & nutritious home cooked meals for their families. Over the years we have received a lot of support from the local community including Bunnings Scoresby, Daisy’s Garden Supplies and many more which prefer we don’t name.
2015 will see our community food program diversify and grow. As they say watch this space for our exciting new initiatives. We are encouraging like minded businesses and individuals to partner and support us to become an integral hub for the local community in Rowville. Our partners and supporters are greatly valued;
