Australian Vietnamese Health & Welfare Association HOPE – AVHWA is a non-profit charity registered in Victoria, Australia.

HOPE AVHWA is a non-profit charity that aims to restore sight to the blind and to provide support and welfare to handicapped orphans and leprosy camps in Vietnam. Led by the Reverend Father Bui Duc Tien and Venerable Thich Phuoc Tan, the group was formed in early 2007 and adopted the name of AUSTRALIAN VIETNAMESE HEALTH & WELFARE ASSOCIATION (AVHWA). The group has two main aims: Medical & Social;

to offer free operations to those who are blind with cataracts; free Dental services and to visit and support handicapped Orphans and Leprosy Camps. Since forming, the group has visited Vietnam four times travelling to the rural provinces where there is a shortage of healthcare and social support. Over 1200 people have had their sight restored, others have had dental extractions and countless others, from leprosy camps and orphan villages, have received welfare support. Participants in these projects consist of medical practitioners, dentists, optometrists, ophthalmologists, pharmacists, social workers and nurses. These volunteers give of both their time and expertise to help those less fortunate in Vietnam.
