π Celebrating a legacy of service π
Earlier this week, we welcomed six former staff members back to MLMC for a special retirement celebration, recognising their years of dedicated service and the lasting contributions they have made to generations of students. For many of our alumni, these will be familiar faces.
Joined by family and friends, Mandy Hetherington, Mary Hicks, Terry Hill, Danny Katzen, Elizabeth Keogh and John Ryan were formally farewelled through a liturgy, speeches and afternoon tea. Their service to the College spans many years, including one staff member who dedicated more than 39 years to MLMC.
In his reflection, Principal Philip Morison shared the words of Catherine McAuley, βWe should be shining lamps, giving light to all around us.β He spoke of how each of our retirees had been precisely that, lighting the path for thousands of young people and helping them grow into confident, compassionate adults ready to make their own mark on the world.
During the celebration, Terry Hill shared a sentiment that captured the occasion beautifully: βYou may leave the College, but the College never leaves you.β
To Mandy, Mary, Terry, Danny, Elizabeth and John, we thank you for the many ways you have shaped our College community. Your legacy of service lives on through the generations of students you have taught, supported and encouraged.
Were you taught by one of these familiar faces? We'd love you to share a favourite memory or a message of thanks in the comments. π
