(est. 1940) is one of Australia's largest and longest established bushwalking and hiking clubs, with around 540 members and over 80 years of walking history. Prospective members and visitors from other bushwalking clubs are welcome to come along on Club Nights to get more information, hear interesting presentations or to book on one of our many activities. The club meets every Wednesday, 6:30pm-8:30pm at 717 Flinders Street, Docklands (Mission to Seafarers Victoria building).

Mount Macedon Willimigongon route, Sunday 7th June
With 30km of connecting trails throughout Macedon Regional Park, it’s no wonder visitors drive the short distance from Melbourne to enjoy a bushwalk. Our Sunday walk took us up a little used track that highlighted the diversity of the hidden forest environment as we completed a rewarding 12km circuit.

Valley Reserve to East Malvern, Thursday 4th June
Melbourne is blessed with parks and gardens, many forming linear passages along creek valleys or former development sites accessible by public transport. A little rain on Thursday did not deter our group of hardy walkers from following an interesting route from Valley Reserve (Mount Waverley) to East Malvern!

Larapinta Trail

This iconic, visually stunning, challenging, spectacular walk runs for 233kms along the West MacDonalds ranges in the Northern Territory, but with side trips around 260km+
Two groups from the club walked it recently over 16 days, starting at each end of the trail and meeting up in the middle at Ellery North.

Warburton Rambling, Sunday 31 May
The Melbourne Bushwalkers Bus headed to Warburton area with two shorter walks suited to the season. The focus was on relaxed walking and enjoying the outdoors close to Melbourne.

A weekend on the Shipwreck Coast, 22-25 May
Victoria's western coastline is as dangerous for shipping as it is dramatic for visitors with towering limestone cliffs carved into magnificent natural features by the relentless southern ocean waves.

Fryers Range goldfields weekend, 9-10 May
Fryerstown, located in Victoria’s Goldfields region, began as a bustling 1850s gold rush town peaking at 15,000–20,000 residents before becoming a quiet historic hamlet. Today it is a heritage area featuring restored buildings, while the adjacent Fryers Ridge offers a protected, ecologically diverse bushland environment. A walk though the area is a journey through history and a wonderful escape to the Victorian bush.

Northern Prom Circuit at Wilsons Prom National park.
A small group enjoyed a very challenging and exciting few days exploring this remote part of the Prom. Note - this walk is only for very experienced hikers with strong navigational skills.

Langi Ghiran Explorer, 24-26 April
Langi Ghiran is a place of cultural and spiritual significance to the Traditional Owners,the Djab Wurrung people. Rugged granite peaks and gentle sloping woodlands are the dominant features of this local landmark. A great place to walk for those with a sense of adventure.

Elphinstone Tunnel to Fryerstown, Sunday 19th April
What a great day in the bush! A walk through the Castlemaine Diggings National Heritage Park is both an adventure in the bush and an historic exploration. The Melbourne Bushwalkers' regular Bus Walk last Sunday headed out that direction.

Hurstbridge to Diamaond Creek, Social Walk, Thursday 16 April
A pleasant coffee and cakes at the Hurstbridge Patisserie was a good way to prepare for the 7.5km flat stroll along the valley floor, bordered by a mixture of gum trees and open areas. The Melbourne Bushwalkers monthly Thursday Social Walk enjoyed great weather too.
