We asked our homework club kids to complete the sentence: "I love my mum because..."

Below were the responses - common every day tasks for mums but experienced differently by each child.

We are grateful for each of the mums at our homework club, both parents and volunteers.

Happy Mother's Day to you all amazing mums!!

Our Homework Club young people had a great experience at the AMMC The Media Bridge Project Workshop yesterday.

They got up and close with cameras - learning about the Newsroom's hacks, tips and tricks - production, news-reading and interviewing skills.

It was great to have the support of community leaders and special guest, Michael Galea MP, Labor State Member for the South Eastern Metropolitan Region in the Victorian Parliament.
Amazing continued work by Australian Multicultural Media Centre in training our multicultural young people - having more diverse voices in the media is good for the media and the society!!

Holiday activities done and dusted! Our homework club kids/young people had two fantastic events, Fun Activities at the centre and a Night at the Movies🎬 last night!
Thank you very much to our volunteers, parents and key partner, African Youth Alliance Australia - AYA for making these events possible. The kids had lots of fun and that's the main thing!!

Beyond Bride Price is a South Sudanese-led community gathering designed to share research findings and create space for respectful conversation about bride price practice in the diaspora.

Presented by Dr Anyier Yuol through Lead Beyond Education, in partnership with Settlement Services International (SSI), this gathering draws on doctoral research exploring the cultural, social, economic, and gendered implications of bride price within South Sudanese communities in Australia. The community gathering translates research into accessible language and invites reflection, discussion, and learning across generations.

This Melbourne gathering is part of the 2026 Beyond Bride Price Series, which is committed to returning research knowledge to the community and fostering culturally grounded conversations that support family wellbeing, intergenerational understanding, and cultural continuity.

What to expect:
A clear and accessible presentation of key research findings by Dr Anyier Yuol

A facilitated intergenerational dialogue bringing together elders, women, men, and youth

Contributions from community leaders and service providers, including Settlement Services International (SSI)

Community reflection and discussion in a culturally respectful and safe space

Cultural performances:
A celebratory Loor Jieng to close the evening, honouring culture, connection, and community pride

Who should attend:
South Sudanese community members (elders, parents, youth, women and men)

Community leaders and organisations:
Members of other African communities who are interested in learning about bride price practice in the diaspora and supporting respectful dialogue

Free Registration | Open to the community:

What a privilege it was to attend the media Launch of the AFL 2026 at the MCG - celebrating cultural diversity and contributions made by culturally diverse players, staff and stakeholders to our beautiful game - the Australian Rules Football.

Well done by the team at The LOTE Agency: Bwe Thay Director of Engagement and Acting CEO Mr for the great work with the AFL on this very important and truly inclusive project.

It was great to see some of our incredible trailblazers who are both ambassadors of the game and of their respective communities:
- Collingwood Football Club
- Essendon Football Club
- Western Bulldogs AFLW
Akec Makur Chuot - Former AFLW player
Along with AFL staff including the Chief Operating Officer - former Cat!

The Cultural Heritage Series is a great initiative by the AFL to celebrate multiculturalism so I strongly encourage our communities to come to the Cultural Heritage Series games throughout the season.

It was great to reconnect and meet community leaders and friends: Andy Tran Pooja Prem Sunny Duggal
