Queer Muslim Naarm Connecting Q***r Muslim & Allies Naarm - Melbourne At the core of Q***r Muslim Naarm's work is a deep-seated commitment to fostering understanding and unity.

Q***r Muslim Naarm was established through the collaborative efforts of Sasja and Boudie, two individuals whose paths crossed amidst the vibrant energy of a highly acclaimed Q***r Iftar event in 2023. Their encounter ignited a shared passion and determination to foster greater inclusivity and support within their community. Motivated by the success and resonance of their initial collaboration, Sas

ja and Boudie embarked on a journey of empowerment, driven by the desire to amplify voices and create safe spaces for Q***r Muslims. Energised by their experiences and the connections forged during the Q***r Iftar, they resolved to expand their impact and initiatives in the following year, fuelled by a profound sense of purpose and a commitment to advancing equality and understanding. Q***r Muslim Naarm is a vibrant and dynamic not for profit community organisation rooted in the heart of Naarm, also known as Melbourne. Mawlid al Nabawi al Sharif is a very special day for Muslims around the world. It marks the birth of our beloved Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him, who came with a message of mercy, justice and guidance for all people. For us, this day is not only about remembering history but also about reconnecting with the values he taught and lived by such as kindness, compassion, humility and love for others.

On this occasion families and communities often gather to remember the Prophet’s life, to recite Qur’an, to share food and to tell stories that keep his example alive in our hearts. Some celebrate with songs of praise, others by giving charity or simply by spending the day in reflection and prayer. However it is observed the feeling is the same, a deep gratitude for the gift of his guidance.

For us, Mawlid is a chance to pause and ask how we can bring more of the Prophet’s light into our own lives, to be gentler, more patient and more just in the way we treat people. It is a reminder that his message was not only for the past but also for how we live every single day.

It will also provide a platform for dialogue, allowing participants to engage with the panelists, ask questions, and share their own experiences.
