Promotes recognition and respect for the institutions of civil society. These sit between the individual and the State and include clubs and associations, schools, religious bodies, charities and NGOs.

2. Protects traditional rights and freedoms such as the freedom of association, the freedom of speech and the freedom of conscience.

3. Promotes a sensible and civil discussion about how to balance competing rights and freedoms in Australian society.
