For many of us, this isn’t even a difficult choice. A cat’s trust is quiet, intentional, and deeply meaningful. When a cat chooses you, it is something earned, and protecting that bond matters.

When someone treats your cat with roughness, disrespect, or disregard, it doesn’t just affect them. It reveals a lack of empathy and an inability to respect boundaries, especially toward a living being that relies on you for safety. That kind of behavior is hard to overlook.

Relationships should never come at the cost of your cat’s well-being. A home should feel safe for everyone in it, including the ones who cannot speak for themselves.

For many cat lovers, protecting their cat is not optional. It is a clear boundary. And sometimes, walking away is the only way to honor it.

Would you choose your cat over a relationship if it came down to it? ✋🐾

In France, a compassionate hotel owner has turned a daily routine into a lifeline for stray dogs left behind by tourists. Each evening, after tending to guests, he prepares a “dog buffet” using fresh, safe ingredients, ensuring the animals receive proper nourishment. Instead of scraps, the meals are thoughtfully arranged, offering a variety of food that helps keep the dogs healthy and well-fed.

As dusk settles, the dogs gather near the hotel, familiar with the routine and the kindness behind it. What might appear unusual to passersby is, for the animals, a dependable source of care. Over time, many of the dogs grow calmer and more trusting, no longer forced to roam endlessly in search of food. The owner’s effort not only addresses hunger but also creates a sense of stability for creatures often overlooked.

This simple act reflects a deeper sense of responsibility toward animals affected by human behavior. By stepping in where others have stepped away, the hotel owner is quietly restoring dignity to lives that have been disrupted. His initiative shows that compassion does not need to be grand to be meaningful—it can be as simple as showing up every day and choosing to care.

🌿 National Eucalypt Day & World Climate Day 🌏
Today brings together two powerful reminders for our koalas: the importance of eucalyptus trees, and the urgent need to care for our climate.

1️⃣EUCALYPTUS trees are the foundation of koala survival - but their importance is often misunderstood. As we await the updated SEQ Koala Strategy, there’s something critical we need to recognise - every eucalyptus tree has value, but some are absolutely essential.
🐨Trees may all have equal value to us in a development application, but to a koala they can be completely different and mean life or death.
🌿 Some leaves are highly toxic, hard to digest and hold less moisture.
🌳This means koalas must be selective - and they need choice across the landscape.
🪵But many of the most important koala trees don’t even look like the classic gum trees people expect so can be cut down inadvertently.

2️⃣CLIMATE is also making life harder for our koalas. Hotter temperatures, longer droughts, and extreme weather are:
⚠️ Drying out eucalyptus leaves
⚠️ Reducing their nutritional value
⚠️ Increasing stress on koalas
🐾As conditions worsen, koalas are forced to move more often in search of better trees - putting them at greater risk of road strike, dog attack, and exhaustion.
‼️When we fail to manage tree protection and climate impacts together, we create landscapes that koalas simply can’t survive in.

⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️
But there’s still so much we can do:
💚 Protect existing eucalyptus trees - especially mature ones
👉 Before removing any tree, check if it is a koala food tree
💚 Plant a mix of local koala food species and other trees to climb
💚 Retain trees in developments and avoid unnecessary clearing
💚 Support habitat corridors so koalas can move safely
💚 Slow down in known koala areas
💚 Advocate for stronger planning and climate action

🏆Every action counts.
