Green Music Australia harnesses the cultural power of music to create a greener, safer world. We provide tools, encouragement, case studies and personalised support to artists, festivals, venues and m

usic industry partners, striving for a more environmentally sustainable music industry. By inspiring and facilitating the music scene to make green changes like divesting from fossil fuels, ditching single-use plastic and investing in renewable energy, we build crucial leadership in this influential sector, and bring along the audiences to create deep cultural change. A central focus of our activities is to stand in solidarity with First Nations people, who have been protecting this land for millenia and have the knowledge and culture to guide us toward a sacred relationship with Mother Earth. We recognise that our campaigns for environmental change cannot be successful without honouring and normalising First Nations leadership, and amplifying their voices. Our vision is to foster a new green music scene into being: one that puts First Nations people first; supports and rewards artists who tour carbon neutrally; bans single-use plastic and supports the reusable revolution; promotes the urgent transition to a renewable powered future; and puts the call for immediate climate action on centre stage.

“No music on a dead planet”.

At Lime Green Festival, the artists brought the beats and a message for the Anthony Albanese government: it’s time for a 25% tax on gas exports.

Whether you’re outraged you’re paying more tax on your beer, or you just think billion-dollar gas companies should pay their fair share, taxing big gas greed is a no-brainer.

Australians are paying more, while gas giants rake in billions and hand back next to nothing. That’s not fair, and it’s not sustainable.

Tell Anthony Albanese it’s time to tax big gas greed.

Join our free online session - Solar Slice in Action: Funding Climate and Nature on Tour.

Learn how to turn your shows into real climate impact. Hear from Oli Leimbach (Lime Cordiale), Heidi Lenffer (FEAT. initiative), and Tim Shiel (Green Music Australia) on how Solar Slice works, and how you can apply it across to your next tour.

“The Solar Slice is one of the simplest and most rewarding things we’ve ever done. Just $1 from every ticket has helped restore rainforests, protect the Great Australian Bight, push a bus company to switch to biodiesel, and tackled South Australia’s algal bloom. A tiny contribution per person has made a massive collective impact.” – Oli Leimbach, Lime Cordiale.

Hey Albo 👀

A 25% tax on gas exports could bring in over $17 billion every year - that’s serious funding for climate solutions and real relief for Australians doing it tough with the cost of living.

On behalf of Aussie musicians and the wider community, we’re calling on the federal government to introduce an ongoing 25% tax on gas export revenue.
