Not the greatest video as I was holding a baby and filming.

But is this not the cutest interaction ever!! (Make sure listen with sound!!!)

This is Trevor with my new little bub Polly, he was very intrigued and did this for about 5 minutes in total.

Emma Vulin MP came across Polly's deceased mum on the road in cockatoo and knew she needed to check a pouch but instead found little Polly tangled up in some blackberries on the edge of the road.
She unfortunately bit her tongue in the impact and received some minor cuts to her foot which we have had stitched up so fingers crossed they heal well!

Trevor is one of the many beautiful babies that Berny and Phil at Back to nature wildlife shelter has raised.
He had a few adventures recently by finding himself in Mt Burnett, he was darted and taken to Locky's Legacy in Pakenham upper, which he then decided he would venture again and end up in Upper Beaconfield, darted again and I transported him home and he has decided to stick around.

Very informative post from Murrindindi Ranges Wildlife Shelter Inc.

Please take the time to read this if you have property or live near, walk near anywhere the is a possibility for fence hangers.

The need to know are what could save an animals life.

I know it can be distressing seeing an animal caught and trashing and your first instinct is to release it, but like in the post. This would ultimately end up in a death sentence.

Kate does amazing work and I will always be totally amazed by her, she is definitely someone that deserves so much more then she receives ❤️

Please keep an eye out for our wildlife and please ensure you have shallow bowls of water all around with sticks and or rocks for smaller animals to get onto if they happen to get stuck in the water.

Please also check these bowls a couple times a day and try to keep them in the shade.

Hello everyone!

I hope everyone is having a good new year!

I have broken my foot and will be off rescues for at least 6 weeks.
I may be able to help when my partner is around but other than that I can't drive.

Please in the meantime contact wildlife Victoria or send me a text and I can try and find someone to help.

After the awful tragedy this week, this rescue this morning was certainly very daughting.

Kangaroo hit on the freeway in pakenham and still alive, two severly broken legs and he still managed to walk/crawl atleast 50 metres along the wall.

A few lovely people reported him, one of which stayed on scene.

Police were called for assitance but as usual this really doesn't make a huge difference. People were still flying past and not abiding the law to slow to 40km.

Unfortunately people just don't have any consideration for anyone around them.

Us as wildlife rescuers, emergency services and road workers etc all have families that we would like to go home to, we can take every safety measure possible but ultimately our safety is still in the hands of other road users taking consideration when driving, slowing when seeing a hazard, ie a car with hazard lights, emergency services etc.

Please take consideration when driving and seeing people and cars on road side, slowing down for 30 seconds will not make much of a difference in your day other than keeping others and yourself safe.

Please call in wildlife you see injuried, only stop if safe to do so and be smart when it comes to road safety! Any life is 1 too many to be lost on the roads.

This is a timely reminder to please be careful on our roads.

Please if you happen to hit an animal or see an injuried animal, make sure YOU are safe.

Do not endanger your own lives.

My condolences go out to the families and friends of these two women and I commend them for their compassion and bravery to help this injuried kangaroo.

The wildlife rescue community are definitely feeling the loss of these two lovely ladies.

May they rest in peace and forever be remembered for their kind souls❤️❤️

Archie has decided that if he fits, he sits.....
I was feeding Magnus and he decided that my jumper pocket was the perfect place for him to get into.

“I won’t take wildlife to a vet or wildlife carer as they just kill it”, is something the wildlife caring community hears often.

Please read what Amy Wregg, a wildlife carer/rescuer and wildlife vet nurse feels when she hears such comments.

“Empathy burnout and compassion fatigue are a real thing. This week it has been particularly tough on me, maybe all trauma is catching up.

The biggest thing that boils my blood and has gotten to me is constantly defending my job and those of the amazing vets and vet nurses I work with daily. Even from fellow animal rescuers 😳We are told that we only just euthanaise them so I won’t get the animal the help it needs.

This is the most disrespectful thing any one can ever say to us, not only do we not enjoy euthanasing animals, it is done as a necessity for the animals welfare. Some animals are so badly injured and sick no amount of vet care can bring them back so the best outcome is to let them pass peacefully and pain free.

For those who have been guilty of saying or thinking that take a minute to think about the actual people who have to make the tough decisions. You do not see any of us in tears or upset in the moment because we are professional, what you don’t see is the tears we shed in silence, the agony of not being able to help an animal or ease its pain fast enough while it looks into our eyes struggling to breathe.

Be kind to us animal folk🙏”

Thank you Amy W for everything you do for wildlife 🥰 and hopefully people will think twice before they say such things again. 😞
