PUSH: Organising and educating to build a united front against fascism

PUSH: Organising and educating to build a united front against fascism PUSH is a nucleus organising and educating to build a democratic and accountable united front. PUSH therefore:

1.

PUSH Points of Unity

The threat of fascism is growing globally, including in Australia. The ever-polarising economic crisis is creating the conditions for fascism. Fascism in power is an authoritarian form of government that capitalism uses as a last attempt to save itself. The primary aim of fascism is to smash trade unions and progressive working class organisations to stop revolt and shore up

profits. These points of unity are intended to unite PUSH members in action, providing an initial basis for agreement and cooperation in the hopes of further developing a united front to stop fascism. This is a living document with the potential to grow and change as PUSH responds to new challenges and opportunities should members choose to do so. understands that we are organising on the unceded and illegally occupied territories of Wurundjeri/Woiwurung and Boonwurrung Peoples of so-called Melbourne, recognising the sovereignties of all First Nations/Peoples and acknowledging their ongoing struggles against genocidal white supremacy and their leadership in the fight to defeat fascism.

2. recognises fascism as a tool of capitalism to stifle democracy and crush the working class, therefore we regard both it and the broader far right movement as a dangerous physical threat.

3. will democratically and co-operatively organise united and disciplined actions to stop fascist and far-right movements organising, recruiting and spreading their violent ideology by building a broad, democratic united front of all who are targets of fascists and the far right – women, First Nations people, immigrants of colour and temporary residents, Jews and Muslims, LGBTIQ and disabled people, s*x workers, people on welfare and the poor, unionists and the broader left.

4. recognises working class community organisations — especially unions — because of their capacity to organise fascism’s targets and mobilise them in the defence of their class and communities.

5. recognises that educating about fascism is critical for building a diverse united front. PUSH will develop educational materials appropriate for specific targeted communities and translated into multiple languages.

6. will develop structures that ensure and protect full democracy and diversity, based on collaboration that is comradely, mutually respectful, accountable and transparent, while taking appropriate security measures to ensure our safety.

7. recognises that a diversity of tactics exists within the broader movement and will defend anti-fascists and all who are targets of police, far right or fascist attack, recognising and respecting their right to self-defence.

Join with the Naarm Anti-fascist United Front (NAUF) at the Invasion Day Rally.

As well as taking a stand against fascists and the far right, NAUF will be amplifying the demands raised by the Invasion Day rally organisers, Warriors of the Aboriginal Resistance.

January 26 is not a day to celebrate. On Invasion Day, we rally to stand with First Nations peoples across this continent and demand:
-Freedom for our peoples, lands and waters
-Treaty and truth for our old people and for future generations
-Justice for babies and kids so they can grow up safe, loved, and free
An end to deaths in custody, forced removals, and ongoing violence from systems built on invasion.

ISJA will be bringing its tribute placards which honour the memory of those who have died in custody. NAUF will march behind the ISJA Stop Indigenous Deaths in Custody banner. NAUF needs a crowd to help carry these materials and anti-fascist materials.

Join NAUF at 10:30 am on the corner of Little Bourke Street and Spring Street. Wear purple.

Support this important mobilisation in Melbourne on 31 August.

On Sunday 31 August, a "March for Australia" nationwide rally is calling for an 'Australia' for the 'white man only." This is a serious attack on Indigenous, Black and Brown people, migrants, refugees and Palestinians.

This far right rally will be at the same time as the weekly Free Gaza protest, claiming to take back the streets from the Free Palestine movement.

ISJA Melbourne has a long history of disciplined anti-fascist organising. We urge people to mobilise in huge numbers at 11 am at the State Library for an anti-fascist mobilisation to defend the Palestine movement and strengthen the forces determined to resist fascism, racism, s*xism and the bigoted politics of the far right.
