Australijos Lietuvių Dienos 2016 AUSTRALIAN LITHUANIAN DAYS

The Australian Lithuanian Days (ALD) have been held between Christmas and New Year every second year since 1960.

They are an opportunity for all Australian Lithuanians to come together and celebrate their shared heritage. Lithuanian House in North Melbourne will be the hub for many social, cultural and business events associated with ALD2016. Other venues around inner Melbourne will be used for special events, including the wonderful Deakin Edge theatre overlooking the Yarra River for the Choral Song Festiva

l. ALD2016 guests include the President of the World Lithuanian Community Executive, Dalia Henke, and the Vilnius folkloric group “Ratilai”. In a first for ALD2016, Ratilai will be performing in concert supported by the Melbourne group “Pamesta Klumpe”. The festival could not take place without a dedicated volunteer committee and event coordinators, or without the generous support of our sponsors, the Australian Lithuanian Foundation, TALKA Lithuanian Credit Society and the Melbourne Lithuanian Club. My fondest thanks go to all of them. The ALD is a special week each two years. It is a time to meet old friends, make new ones and rejoice in the particular culture that is of Lithuanian origin.
