Here's a less obvious way P&G Purpose supports refugee communities: through a sports day. 🙌🏼⚽

For young people from the Ezidi and Congolese communities in Armidale, trying a new sport could also mean meeting new friends, feeling part of a community and finding a place to belong.

P&G Purpose funded an interpreter so language wouldn't get in the way of joining in and showing what they could do.

The day was organised with the Rotary Club of Armidale and the Northern Inland Academy of Sport (NIAS).

Sometimes, feeling at home in a new country starts with something as simple as playing together.

A paper tube funds more than you'd think. 🏭

Every tube sold helps keep P&G Paper Tubes running, and a big part of what it earns goes straight to funding training, tools and support for refugees and asylum seekers building a life in Australia.

What if supporting a dream started with a kitchen? 🍴💛

After our recent Purpose & Growth board meeting, we gathered around the table at Roha Ethiopian Restaurant in Footscray.

Roha is a refugee-owned business: a place built from a new beginning, and a way of creating opportunity and independence in a new country.

We were proud to support them with equipment for their kitchen, responding to a real need and helping remove one more barrier to their growth.

Because sometimes, a little support can go a long way when someone is already doing the work to build a future.

Want to support Roha? Go have dinner. 🍽️🇪🇹

Not every opportunity starts with a program. 💡

Sometimes, it starts with a laptop. 💻

Mbilizi and Albert are originally from the Democratic Republic of Congo, and both brought years of experience with them to Australia.

Mbilizi previously ran his own retail business in the Congo. Albert worked in community programs supporting women and girls, with a focus on education.

Now, both are a few weeks into an introductory computing course at TAFE, building new skills and starting from the beginning.

There was just one problem: neither had a computer to practise with.

Our partners at Rotary Club of Armidale, working alongside Armidale District Baptist Church, flagged the need to us. So we provided two laptops. 💻💻

It’s a small, practical form of support. But sometimes, having the right tool is what makes the next step possible.

And this is part of a broader effort: through our partnerships, P&G has supported access to laptops for people in newly arrived communities, responding to practical needs that can help people learn, participate and keep moving forward. 🤝

From graduation 🎓 to the factory floor.

Last Friday, we celebrated Abdul and Belachew as they graduated from our Introduction to Manufacturing Program.

It was a special day, made possible through the support of Wyndham City Council and our partnership with the Asylum Seeker Resource Centre (ASRC)

We were also joined by people from across our community and business network, including Dylan Wight MP, Wyndham City Council, ASRC, Henkel and Godfrey Hirst.

Then we opened the doors to the factory.

The machines were running. Paper tubes were being made. The team was at work.

And Abdul and Belachew were right there on the factory floor, putting their skills into practice.

That’s what made the day particularly meaningful: celebrating an achievement, then seeing the work behind it.

Thank you to Wyndham City Council, ASRC and everyone who continues to support employment pathways through P&G Paper Tubes.

And congratulations, Abdul and Belachew. 👏🎓

There’s something powerful about having a place where you can learn, create and belong. 🧵✨

At Thread Shed Armidale, women from Ezidi and Congolese communities come together to learn sewing and upcycling: turning secondhand textiles into fashion while building skills, confidence and connections along the way.

It’s a space to create, share, support one another and learn practical skills that can help women earn an income and build greater independence. 🧵❤️

To make the training accessible to everyone, P&G Purpose provided funding for Ezidi translation, helping participants take part fully in the program.

The training was coordinated by the Rotary Club of Armidale, bringing the community together around an opportunity to learn, connect and build new possibilities. 🤝

We’re proud to support projects like this: where learning a practical skill can become a step towards greater independence and new opportunities.

And we want to keep doing more.

Your donation to P&G Purpose helps us support more community-led projects and create more pathways to opportunity.

WHO’S IN?

What if the right opportunity could change someone’s future? 💛

At P&G Purpose, we’re creating employment pathways for refugees, asylum seekers, veterans and other Australians facing barriers to work.

And we’re looking for people and organisations who want to help create more.

📅 On 28 August, join us in Melbourne for our Staff Graduation Ceremony and Factory Tour & Open House.

9 years ago, P&G Paper Tubes started with one idea: give someone their first real job in Australia.

Every tube we make funds a real salary for a refugee or new Australian building their life here. $2,500,000 in wages later, that's what 9 years of showing up looks like. 💛
