Happy Sunday! The are excited to announce our first zoom event for the year, Moving Abroad as a Psychologist: Licensing in the US After Training in Australia, with guest speaker Dr Christopher Benjamin, a Clinical Neuropsychologist and Associate Professor in the Department of Neurology at Yale.
New York, United States
Fri, Mar 24, 19:00 - 20:00 (EDT)
Melbourne, Australia
Sat, Mar 25, 10:00 - 11:00 (AEDT)
Moving abroad as a psychologist can be challenging as licensing requirements for clinical practice often differ by country and/or state. Dr. Christopher Benjamin completed his clinical training (MA and PhD) in Australia at the University of Melbourne and has since gone on to practise as a clinical neuropsychologist in the United States. He will share his expertise on navigating this transition and provide advice for getting licensed as a psychologist in the US after training overseas in Australia.
Dr. Benjamin is a clinical neuropsychologist and Associate Professor in the Department of Neurology at Yale. He completed his PhD training in neuropsychology at the University of Melbourne, Australia; research fellowship training at Boston Children’s Hospital and Harvard Medical School Boston; and his clinical fellowship at the Semel Institute, University of California Los Angeles where he was the epilepsy fellow and Chief Fellow in neuropsychology. As a clinician he is a member of Yale's Comprehensive Epilepsy Center and he also sees adults with a range of neurological disorders. As a researcher his work focuses on how we can improve surgical planning to treat epilepsy and brain tumors.
If you have recently made this transition from Australia to the US (or North America in general), are in the process of doing so, or hope to do so in the future, please feel welcome to join a knowledge-sharing community created by the event co-host Arielle (who will herself be making this move in the coming years): https://www.linkedin.com/groups/14206245/
