Polished Man Polished Man is building a community against gender-based violence. Polished Man is a campaign dedicated to ending violence against women and children.

We back trusted role models to build safe and caring communities by driving grassroots innovation, sharing stories, and leading cultural change in the spaces men move through every day. It challenges everyone to paint one nail blue for the month of October to spark up important conversations and raise awareness and funds for trauma prevention and trauma recovery programs in Australia and around the world.

Everyone deserves to feel safe and cared for.

But the reality is, 1 in 5 women in Australia have experienced sexual violence. Let that sink in.

It takes all of us to build communities free from violence. You don't need to have exactly the right words. You don't need to have a perfect response. It’s enough that you choose to show up for the people around you.

Check on the women and girls in your life. Speak up if your mates shift blame onto victim-survivors. Have a tougher conversation: not about how the footy finals will be impacted, but about the need to shift culture in sports and other male-dominated spaces, so everyone feels safe and respected.

At Polished man we know the power of amplifying positive role models who inspire others to show up with care, people like former AFL player Mitch Brown. That’s so important in this moment, because when sexual violence hits the headlines, it falls hardest on victim-survivors. But together, our voices and everyday actions can send a clear message to victim-survivors that they are not alone.

88% of parents are ready for a change. Are you?

Most Australian parents say they would vote for policies that support a "care-first" society including flexible working, affordable childcare, and equal paid parental leave.

Fathers want to be present, but workplace cultures and inadequate leave entitlements often stand in the way. Supporting men’s active engagement in caregiving doesn't just benefit dads, it benefits mothers, children, and our entire society.

Did you know that Australian fathers who highly value their role as caregivers report significantly lower levels of psychological distress?

While 33% of fathers in a recent study reported suicidal thoughts in the past two weeks, those who felt deeply connected to their identity as a "nurturer" found it to be a critical protective factor for their mental health.

When we move past outdated gender expectations and make space for men to lean into care, we create stronger families, safer communities and better mental health for men too.

For firefighters like Mark Paton, running into fire is part of the job.

But for too many women in Australia, fire is something they're desperately trying to escape.

The reality is confronting.
- Women burned by a partner are three times more likely to die than those with accidental burns.
- In violence-related flame burns, petrol was the accelerant in 80% of cases, compared to 38% in accidental burns.

This is deliberate. Premeditated.

Arson, threats, and intimidation. Instilling fear that doesn't leave when the smoke clears.

30% of Australian men believe gender inequality isn't real. Coincidentally, they're the least likely to experience it.
