Polished Man is building a community against gender-based violence. Polished Man is a campaign dedicated to ending violence against women and children.

We back trusted role models to build safe and caring communities by driving grassroots innovation, sharing stories, and leading cultural change in the spaces men move through every day. It challenges everyone to paint one nail blue for the month of October to spark up important conversations and raise awareness and funds for trauma prevention and trauma recovery programs in Australia and around the world.

Most businesses don't realise how much of a role they can play in prevention. Research shows men are most influenced by the peers, leaders and communities they already know and trust, which means workplaces are one of the most powerful places to shift the story.

That's why Polished Spaces works with the businesses men already move through, starting with our pilot of gyms, who spent their first session digging into what actually drives violence, including rigid gender norms and where men are getting their messaging from.

Rawson Kirkhope has spent years speaking openly about his family's experience of violence. Looking at who responds to his posts, he's noticed something: around 95% are women.

That silence matters. It isn't about blaming men. It's about men recognising they have a part to play in changing the culture that lets violence, intimidation and control continue.

Living true to yourself means showing up for the people in your life. Sometimes that means speaking up when it's uncomfortable.

A golf tent between the ninth and the tenth might not be the most obvious place to start a conversation about ending Gender-Based Violence.

But that’s exactly what happened at the UnLtd Open Sydney.

Player after player took a seat, got a nail painted blue and started a conversation about what we can all do to help prevent violence against women and children.

Because change doesn’t just happen in the places we expect it to. It happens in the spaces people move through, with the people they already know and trust.

We’re proud to be an UnLtd charity partner and even prouder to be part of days like this.

You've watched Alex Pearce lead Fremantle all season. Did you notice his hand?

One nail, painted blue, every single game. Alex has worn it on and off the field since becoming a Polished Man ambassador in 2024. It's not superstition and it's not a fashion call. It takes 30 seconds before he straps up, and it stands for the 1 in 5 Australians over 15 who have experienced domestic or family violence. A small, visible way to start the conversations that lead to change.

On Saturday, Alex leads his side out against Brisbane in the biggest game of his career, one nail painted like every week before it. We'll be cheering him and the whole Freo team on.
