Here are just some of the amazing projects our Cre8 Wangaratta participants have been working on! ✨

Michael has been creating a logo board for his all abilities soccer team, while Kaitlin has been putting together a Halloween welcome sign.

Josh has been building planner boxes for his Auntie, Jacob is turning an old fire extinguisher into a lamp, Zac is crafting guitar wall art, and Geoff has been restoring a family buffet that’s been in his family for years.

We love seeing these ideas come to life! Awesome work guys💙

Today is International Nurses Day, celebrating the dedicated, caring and compassionate nurses who form the backbone of our healthcare system.

Clinical Nurse Specialist, Niran Humagain, has made a strong impact since joining VMCH in July 2024. He is a vital member of the Austin Street team, VMCH’s specialist home for people with acquired brain injury.

Described by colleagues as calm, kind and deeply knowledgeable, Niran transitioned seamlessly into his role, supporting and educating both RSWs and RNs with clarity and confidence.

Niran is highly respected by staff and genuinely loved by residents, with a gift for making complex information easy to understand. When faced with major change early in his role, Niran stepped up with professionalism and care, helping lift team confidence and improve resident outcomes.

"To me, nursing is more than a profession - it is the ability to bring comfort, care, and reassurance to people during their most vulnerable moments.” Niran says. “This journey has taught me compassion, patience, and resilience.

“While nursing comes with challenges, knowing that I can make even a small positive impact in someone’s life makes it deeply meaningful and rewarding"

Congratulations Niran and thank-you to all the incredible nurses across VMCH!

Meet Emma 👋

Recently Emma has been spending time out in the community with the Wantirna Community Connections crew, building her confidence with travelling independently on public transport.

This trip took her into the city, where she enjoyed seeing some familiar Melbourne spots and checking out the new Melbourne Metro Tunnel along the way!

Nice work Emma! ⭐️

Community Connections at VMCH is designed to help you achieve your goals alongside people who share your interests. Learn more on our website ➡️ https://disability.vmch.com.au/services-and-supports/social-and-community

From our VMCH family to yours, we hope you have a safe and relaxing long weekend (with a healthy dose of chocolate of course) 🍫🍫

John R Hannah aged care residents are already on the case with their annual Easter egg hunt 😎

👋 Happy Friday friends!

We’re heading into the weekend with some happy snaps from our Wantirna Community Connections program.

Emma, Melinda and Deb recently enjoyed a lovely visit to Tram Xpresso in Mount Evelyn, the perfect place to relax and enjoy a cuppa among the greenery. 🌿

Thanks for sharing girls - wishing everyone an ace weekend ahead!

Hello from Ararat! 💚

Darren has been busy in the kitchen, whipping up some of his favourite treats — cakes, slices, toasties and his ultimate go‑to… choc‑chip dip! This program is helping Darren build confidence and independence, all while staying connected with his community.

Meanwhile Jarred has been levelling up his 3D‑printing skills. He even helps fund the program by collecting and recycling cans. Lately he’s been working on a range of clever creations, including 3D‑printed coin holders he’s been selling.

Amazing work guys! 👏

☕🏆🎉Where Is My Coffee? Nunawading has taken out a Whitehorse Excellence in Business Award!

Announced at a gala ceremony last night, the awards celebrate organisations across the City of Whitehorse that demonstrate excellence, innovation and meaningful community impact.

Opened at the Nunawading Community Hub in November 2024, WIMC supports people to build confidence and job‑ready skills through hands‑on hospitality experience..

VMCH CEO Sonya Smart says the award (in the Not‑for‑Profit/Social Enterprise category) belongs to the people who bring WIMC to life every day.

“WIMC Nunawading is about so much more than serving fabulous coffee — it’s about building confidence, developing skills and creating real pathways into employment, in a space that feels welcoming and connected to its community.”

A huge thank you to our incredible staff, trainees, supporters and community — and congratulations to the other finalists in the category. Whitehorse City Council Whitehorse Business Group

👉 If you're around Nunawading, pop in for a coffee, meet the team and support a social enterprise making a real difference.

A sunny week in Wangaratta 🌻

Our Cre8 stall was buzzing last Friday, with plenty of interest in our handmade products. The stall was made even brighter by the beautiful sunflowers freshly picked by the crew.

And to top it off, our craft group marked Valentine’s Day with cupcakes, biscuits and bracelet‑making. A lovely few days of connection and creativity!
