Today is International Nurses Day, celebrating the dedicated, caring and compassionate nurses who form the backbone of our healthcare system.
Clinical Nurse Specialist, Niran Humagain, has made a strong impact since joining VMCH in July 2024. He is a vital member of the Austin Street team, VMCH’s specialist home for people with acquired brain injury.
Described by colleagues as calm, kind and deeply knowledgeable, Niran transitioned seamlessly into his role, supporting and educating both RSWs and RNs with clarity and confidence.
Niran is highly respected by staff and genuinely loved by residents, with a gift for making complex information easy to understand. When faced with major change early in his role, Niran stepped up with professionalism and care, helping lift team confidence and improve resident outcomes.
"To me, nursing is more than a profession - it is the ability to bring comfort, care, and reassurance to people during their most vulnerable moments.” Niran says. “This journey has taught me compassion, patience, and resilience.
“While nursing comes with challenges, knowing that I can make even a small positive impact in someone’s life makes it deeply meaningful and rewarding"
Congratulations Niran and thank-you to all the incredible nurses across VMCH!
