Yesterday, Wyndham CEC welcomed Karen settlement clients to the very first So and Sew class, and what an achievement it was! In their very first session, participants learnt new sewing skills and proudly created their own pin cushions for future classes. While the sewing skills are important, this program is about much more than stitching. It is part of Wyndham CEC's commitment to supporting successful settlement by creating opportunities for connection, confidence building, lifelong learning and community participation. Programs like So and Sew provide a welcoming space where people can build friendships, practise English, develop practical skills and strengthen their sense of belonging in their new community. We're incredibly proud of what participants achieved on day one and look forward to seeing their creativity and confidence continue to grow in the weeks ahead. Settlement Council of Australia

A proud moment for Wyndham CEC! Yesterday, our CEO, Chairperson and staff welcomed Her Excellency Professor the Honourable Margaret Gardner AC, Governor of Victoria to our Centre and shared some of our work supporting education, settlement, employment, youth engagement and community connections. We also visited our school JGCC. We are proud of our five-decade history as a trusted community organisation and of the contribution we continue to make daily to a stronger and more inclusive Wyndham. We thank Her Excellency for taking time out of her busy schedule to visit 3 of our sites. What an incredible night at the Fashion Awards Australia 2026 last night! We are so proud to have attended last night’s awards and for the first time, our students entered the awards in a new Learning Local Community Fashion Designs category! Seeing our students showcase their creativity, talent and hard work was such a proud moment. A huge congratulations to the amazing Carlin, Luke, Ellie, Jonabelle and Arezo. To our dedicated teachers, your passion, guidance and support make opportunities like this possible. A special shout-out to Heather Marcus, who has been bringing these awards to life for an incredible 30 years! What an amazing achievement and contribution to the fashion industry and community. Today was a great opportunity to connect and engage with the Victorian Electoral Commission (VEC) to inform new and emerging communities to understand the electoral process and participate in our democracy. Thank you to the VEC for creating opportunities for community engagement, education and participation. Together, we can help build informed, confident and engaged communities. Thank you to our interpreters too. Settlement Council of Australia
