Wonderful to see winter shelter coming to Knox next winter.

NEWS | NEW WINTER SHELTER PROGRAM FOR KNOX - KNOX NEWS 13/10/26
Knox currently has no overnight winter shelter program, but that is about to change. Council has funded one in the 2026-27 Budget and is now searching for an organisation to run it. Expressions of interest close on 10 November.

Love to learn how to preserve fruits & veg in a natural, plastic free way? OEF is partnering with Coonara Community House to help people try the Fowlers Vacola natural method. All equipment has been generously donated to OEF so that surplus fruit and veg won't go to waste. Let's make best use of local seasonal produce.

Yesterday we proudly opened our brand new walk-in freezer! 🎉 We are so excited about what this means for food rescue and storage, before it goes out to help community members who may otherwise go without.

What is so special about the freezer is that it has been funded by the generous and supportive community that we are proud to be a part of!

We love showing students around our foodshare Hub, and today 4 Masters students from Monash University visited as part of their dietetics studies. We hope they enjoyed the morning, and their help was greatly appreciated.

Help end food waste. Today, make sure you cook with what's in your fridge and cupboard, seek out the 'free food pantries' in your neighbourhood, support your local community meals and food relief agencies.
We try to do our part by collecting and sharing out 45-50 tonnes of food every month to local charities, saving it from landfill and helping people who are not able to make ends meet.
PS any non-edible food is given to local farmers too.

Let's all work together to choose the wonky veg, eat our leftovers, not be fussy about Best Before dates always thinking about reducing our food wastage.

A simple sight we love to see. Surplus food collected over the weekend is safely stored in our walkin coolroom for up to 14 food relief agencies today. Thanks to Department of Families, Fairness and Housing - VIC for funding our cookroom, helping get more food for people in need and reducing food waste.
