This September, the Agora Dialogue Colloquium 2026 brings together around 20 people from different professions, countries, cultures, generations and life experiences for two weekends of thoughtful conversation in Nicosia.

No lectures.
No predetermined answers.

Instead, we read, question, listen, challenge our assumptions and try to see the bigger picture.

What does a truly civilised society choose to build?

Ballrooms and monuments, hospitals and schools, beauty and prosperity.

Βut what happens to civilisation when human suffering is left outside the picture?

Inspired by the unsettling moral question of ‘’The Ones Who Walk Away from Omelas’’, two complementary reflections invite us to look beyond buildings and budgets and ask something deeper:

Can we celebrate human achievement while even one human being is left in the shadows?

Two perspectives.

One uncomfortable question.

Perhaps no easy answer.

Can equality, security and lasting peace be achieved within a single democratic state, or has the conflict already moved beyond the traditional political frameworks that have shaped it for decades?

This article does not claim to offer an easy answer. Instead, it explores one of the most challenging questions of our time: whether a one-state solution could provide a realistic path beyond conflict, discrimination and apartheid, while safeguarding justice, dignity and equal rights for everyone who calls the land home.
