Today, we celebrated our 14th annual Carers Week Koorie Lunch!

This special event is dedicated to acknowledging and celebrating the important contributions of First Nations carers. Attendees had a chance to connect with our Carer Gateway team, share the dancefloor for a boogie and chat over a delicious buffet-style roast lunch.

☀️What a fantastic day at Down Syndrome Victoria’s StepUP! event today!

Hundreds of families joined the walk around Princes Park to celebrate the significant contributions people with Down syndrome make to our communities. Before and after the walk, our Carer Gateway team had the opportunity to meet with carers and share about the supports available. Plus, the Carer Gateway fairy made a surprise visit to cheer everyone on!

Shining a light on young carers across Victoria!

Earlier this year, our Carer Gateway Young Carer Art Competition gave young carers a platform to share their experiences through art. As part of our celebrations, we shared more than 100 artwork submissions with over 1,000 attendees at our Carer Gateway Family Day!

It was a wonderful opportunity to celebrate their creativity, share their stories and help families recognise young carers in their own lives. Throughout the competition period, we were also pleased to see more young carers connecting with Carer Gateway for support across the state!

This Sunday, our Carer Gateway team is proud to support Down Syndrome Victoria’s Melbourne StepUP! event for the third year running. With more than 600 attendees expected, we’re looking forward to raising awareness of Carer Gateway and helping more carers discover the support available to them!

This week is National Carers Week! It's a time to raise awareness about the 3 million Australians who provide care to a family member or friend with disability, a medical condition, mental illness, or who is frail due to age.

If you know a carer (and chances are you do!) take a moment to reach out:
• Ask how they’re doing and offer a listening ear
• Help with everyday tasks, like cooking or cleaning
• Share this video to let them know about free support through Carer Gateway.

We celebrated and wrapped up 20 years of Youth Foundation and West Heidelberg Youth Grants, helping 1,200 local young people make a difference, in partnership with Bendigo Bank - Community Bank East Ivanhoe and Heidelberg! 🎉

Over nearly two decades, these programs have funded more than 250 projects, helping children and young people make positive changes in their lives and communities.

From 2012 to 2026:
✅ 200+ projects delivered
✅ 1200+ young people engaged
✅ 40+ project partnerships secured

Thank you, Community Bank East Ivanhoe (Bendigo Bank) for your generous and ongoing support. 🎉 What a fantastic way to kick off ! Today, carers and their families joined us for our Carer Gateway Family Day at Grazeland Melbourne. We had an amazing time celebrating Victorian carers with multicultural dance performances, live music and endless food stalls. We also proudly showcased the incredible talent of the young carers through the amazing artworks submitted to our Young Carer Art Competition!
