Today is Indigenous Literacy Day. 40–70% of Aboriginal adults have low English literacy — and in some remote areas, it's as high as 90%. This can impact daily life from reading a medication label to sending a text.

But change is happening. Communities across the country are leading the way.

Our Djilak-Djirri playgroup supports strong language foundations from the start. Find out how to enrol your child: https://loom.ly/yptkPQY

Every 31st August, International Overdose Awareness Day (IOAD) brings people together across the world to take action on overdose.

Today, we hosted an event at our site to raise awareness, reduce stigma, and encourage open, honest conversations about overdose and the support that's available.

We also took the time to pause and remember those whose lives have been lost or deeply affected by overdose. This day is still needed. But it doesn't have to be forever.

If you or someone you know is seeking alcohol and/or drug support, we're here: https://loom.ly/NyxitC4

🌈💜 It’s Wear It Purple Day! We’re proud to stand with LGBTQIA+SB young people. 89% have experienced bullying, harassment or violence in their lifetime, according to Minus18’s 2025 Q***r Youth Now report.

As a Rainbow Tick accredited organisation, we’re committed to creating safe, welcoming and inclusive spaces where LGBTQIA+SB young people feel respected, valued and able to be themselves.

This week, our team wore purple to celebrate this year’s theme, Colours of Courage. We’re recognising the courage it takes to speak up, create change, live authentically and stand alongside others.

For eight years, people have come together to share their stories, support each other and take steps towards gambling harm recovery.

One person who has been part of the group shared: “The gambling harm recovery group changed my life for the better.”

That’s what peer support is about: being heard, understood and reminded that change is possible.

We’re celebrating everyone who has been part of the journey and helped create a space where people know they’re not alone. Find out more about the group: https://loom.ly/RiHRc6I
