The Young Tourism Network (YTN) is a membership-based networking group that aims to connect students We're just like you!

YTN is run by a committee of members who work and study within tourism related fields. YTN membership enables you to meet like minded people in the industry at our networking and social events, take part in our Trusted Advisor Program, and to gain access to member-only resources. Last week, we celebrated 20 years of the Young Tourism Network, bringing together past and present members, industry professionals and friends to mark this incredible milestone 🎉.

Over the past two decades, YTN has connected thousands of emerging tourism professionals with opportunities, mentors, friendships and careers across Victoria's visitor economy.

It was a fantastic night of reconnecting with familiar faces, making new connections and celebrating the people who have helped shape YTN into the community it is today.

A special thank you to our speakers and early YTN committee members, Louise Hudson, Erin McHugh and Penny Wilson, for sharing your stories, reflecting on YTN's early days and helping us celebrate just how far the network has come.

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us to celebrate, and to everyone who has been part of the YTN journey over the past 20 years.

YTN turned 20 and we’re not slowing down. 🎉

We’ve launched YTN 2030: a project to shape where the Young Tourism Network goes next, and to make sure emerging voices stay at the table in Victoria’s tourism, events and hospitality industries.

There’s two ways to get involved ➡️

📝 Have your say. Complete the Emerging Voices in Tourism Research survey. Tell us about your career goals, what’s working and what isn’t. Open 8 October to 30 November.

🗣️ Join a roundtable. Students, emerging pros, industry leaders and educators in the same room (or on the same screen) working out what’s next. In-person and online sessions available.

In March 2006, a group of young tourism professionals came together with a shared goal: to create a network focused on professional development and supporting the next generation of tourism leaders.

The conversations from that very first meeting centred around training, skills development and creating something that would deliver real value for people building their careers in tourism.

A few months later, the Young Tourism Network was officially launched at Melbourne’s Boulevard Bar by John Pandazopoulos.

Over the following years, the network grew with support from industry, education and government partners. William Angliss Institute came on board as YTN’s first education partner in 2007, while organisations including Tourism Alliance Victoria (now VTIC), Tourism Victoria and the City of Melbourne helped support the network’s growth and impact.

Between 2006 and 2010, YTN provided mentoring opportunities for students entering the industry, built connections across Victoria and was recognised with the 2010 Outstanding Contribution by Volunteers award.

Looking back, it’s incredible to see what grew from those early conversations and the people who believed in the value of supporting young tourism professionals.

As we celebrate 20 years of YTN, we’d love you to be part of the story. Join us as we look back on two decades of connections, career growth and community.
