GLOBAL WEEK OF ACTION RECAP | Over the weekend, Climate Leaders gathered in Perth on Noongar Country to advocate for a clean energy future as part of our .

Thank you to everyone who joined us to share your views with MPs in support of the renewable energy transition, and to our event collaborator, Climate Writers, for helping deliver such a productive afternoon of learning, sharing, and action.

Across the globe the Climate Reality network achieved a lot during this past week, including:

🌏 75 in-person events organised by branches, chapters, and hubs across 20 countries
📣 More than 10,000 people took online action to contact their local representatives
📍 More than 1,750 people attended events in their communities
🏛️ 255 government officials engaged through in-person events
🤝 16 local government officials committed to specific actions to help bring affordable, clean energy to their communities

While we take a moment to celebrate our shared efforts, this is also a reminder that with rising energy costs and an accelerating climate crisis, our efforts to create a just and safe future for all are more important than ever.

IN THE NEWS | The 17th annual Banking on Climate Chaos report reveals that the world’s 65 biggest banks have poured $8.7 trillion into fossil fuels over the past decade.

Instead of financing a just and liveable future for all, major banks continue funding pollution, extraction, and climate destruction worldwide.

The Climate Reality Project Australia & Pacific is proud to be one of more than 340 organisations across 55 countries backing this report, powered by regional expertise and a shared commitment to climate justice.

This workshop comes at a critical time, with the Western Australian government planning to scrap its emissions reduction target. While alternative decarbonisation targets are proposed, climate analysts argue they may be ineffective without directly addressing emissions.

Come along to learn more about the debate around emissions targets, share your views with MPs, and help shape a clean energy future for WA.

NATIONAL RECONCILIATION WEEK 2026 🖤💛❤️ | National Reconciliation Week 2026, with the theme ‘All In’, calls on all Australians to commit fully to every day.

Held from 27 May to 3 June, these dates mark significant milestones in Australia’s reconciliation journey, including the 1967 Referendum and the Mabo decision.

Reconciliation requires ongoing action, respect, and understanding.

It must be lived through our hearts, minds and actions, as we move towards stronger communities built on respectful relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, and a shared commitment to valuing histories, cultures and futures.

PROFILE | Art can be a powerful way of expressing our relationship with the natural world, especially when it helps us reflect on where we come from and how we live within it.

We had the privilege of speaking with artist and Climate Reality Leader Harete Tito about art, climate change, and what it means to reconnect with the environment. She shared how a deep connection to land and environment forms the foundation for everything.

UNGA ICJ CLIMATE ADVISORY OPINION RESOLUTION | In a Project Syndicate opinion piece, Ralph Regenvanu argues that the International Court of Justice’s landmark climate advisory opinion must not remain a symbolic legal milestone. Instead, he calls for a United Nations General Assembly resolution that can operationalise the ruling and embed it within the machinery of global governance.

We are proud to have joined 185 civil society organisations from across the globe, calling on Member States to and to take the necessary next step in addressing the climate crisis.

NETWORK NEWS | Climate Reality Leader and plastic-free advocate Sarah Rhodes (Plastic Free SEA) spoke to The Age and The Sydney Morning Herald about the growing concern around plastic, microplastics and the challenge of removing them once they enter the human body.

Read more here | https://bit.ly/4u1XlYi

We know that plastics and the environment are inextricably linked. Plastic is made from fossil fuels, and the plastics crisis is deeply connected to the expansion of oil and gas. As the fossil fuel industry looks for new markets beyond energy, plastic production is projected to keep rising, along with the pollution and health impacts that come with it.

Addressing the climate crisis means addressing the growing impact of plastic pollution too.

We are grateful to be surrounded by a community of Climate Reality Leaders including Sarah Rhodes, who are working every day to drive change. During June and Plastic Free July, Sarah is opening up availability for her signature plastic-free workshops in Sydney. Reach out if your workplace would like to take part.

Thank you, Sarah, for everything you do to protect and restore our shared climate and future.

SOLIDARITY OUTSIDE THE HIGH COURT OF AUSTRALIA TODAY | Wendy and Tony are inside defending a landmark NSW Court of Appeal decision that recognised the importance of considering the local climate impacts of coal mining on communities in the Upper Hunter and beyond.

The High Court is now hearing an appeal that could determine whether climate impacts must be properly considered when assessing fossil fuel projects across Australia. The outcome of this case will shape how our legal system responds to the climate crisis and how future developments are assessed.

CLIMATE CASE ⚖️ | A historic week for climate accountability in Australia. For the first time ever, a climate case is being heard in the High Court of Australia.

This Wednesday, retired science teachers Wendy and Tony will take on a fossil fuel giant in a landmark legal challenge that could reshape how fossil fuel projects are approved in NSW and potentially across the country.

Australia exports more climate pollution through fossil fuels than it produces domestically. The key question before the Court is whether those emissions can continue to be treated as someone else’s responsibility, even though fossil fuels burned anywhere impact communities everywhere, including Australians.

Our community stands with Tony and Wendy, alongside Grata Fund, the DAMS HEG community group and Johnson Legal, whose collective efforts have made this case possible.
