🖤💛❤️ As National Reconciliation Week comes to an end, we reflect on this year's theme, All In.

The theme reminds us that reconciliation is not something we simply observe. It is something we all contribute to through learning, listening, respect and action. Throughout the week, we have taken the opportunity to deepen our understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander histories, cultures and perspectives, and to celebrate the richness of the world's oldest living culture.

One of the highlights of the week was welcoming to Leisure City for a special performance. Through music and storytelling, Kiwat shared culture, knowledge and experiences that inspired reflection, connection and learning across our community.

As Reconciliation Week comes to a close, our commitment to reconciliation continues. We remain dedicated to creating opportunities to learn from and alongside First Nations peoples, and to playing our part in building a more respectful, inclusive and united future.

Today we pause to mark National Sorry Day.

A day to acknowledge the deep and lasting pain experienced by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children, families, and communities. We honour their strength, resilience, and enduring spirit. Their stories must always be heard, and their healing must always matter.

At Y Whittlesea, we are committed to walking alongside our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities listening, learning, and doing better. Reconciliation isn't a moment, it's a practice we choose every day.

Together, we can build a future grounded in truth, respect, and belonging. 🧡

This week our turned rainbow bright in support of IDAHOBIT Day 🌈

Our incredible staff and students proudly stepped out in colour and took on the “Cat Walk of Colour” to celebrate inclusion, acceptance, and the importance of standing against discrimination.

It was amazing to see our school community come together to show that everyone deserves to feel safe, valued, and respected for exactly who they are.

❤️🧡💛💚💙💜

Last week were very excited to receive a $5,000 donation to support student wellbeing, as part of the Walk A Mile In My Shoes (WAMIMS) initiative.

WAMIMS is a TreeHaus community development project, focused on improving mental health outcomes for young people by supporting schools with meaningful wellbeing programs.

TreeHaus is an allied health clinic supporting individuals, families and communities across Victoria and Australia. Support is available both in person and online, ensuring access to care when it is needed.

Through the WAMIMS community, $160,000 was raised at last year’s gala dinner. These funds are being distributed to schools across Australia to help develop wellbeing retreats and initiatives that create safe, supportive spaces for students.

The school will be using these funds to enhance our classroom and wellbeing spaces in alignment our THRIVE framework and are very excited to share the new spaces with you

Thankyou to the WAMIMS community for this generous donation.

Today, we pause to acknowledge Anzac Day a time to reflect, remember and honour the courage, sacrifice and service of all who have served our country.

At the Y, we recognise the importance of community, connection and supporting one another, values grounded in mateship, resilience and respect.

We remember those who gave so much, and we thank those who continue to serve today.

Lest we forget.
