It's a century for Margita! 🎂

Bundoora aged care resident Margita recently celebrated an incredible milestone, turning 100 years old.

The celebrations began with cake and morning tea at Bundoora, before family and friends gathered the next day for a special lunch in her honour. With more cake, of course!!

Surrounded by loved ones, Margita was delighted to mark this special occasion and reflect on a century of memories.

💜 This week is National Carers Week, recognising and celebrating the millions of Australians who provide care and support to a family member or friend.

For nearly 30 years, Penny has cared for her son Marcus.

While caring for Marcus has brought immense love and joy, it has also come with challenges that many people never see. Like many carers, Penny has experienced isolation, judgement and the feeling that others don't fully understand the realities of life behind closed doors.

By sharing her story, Penny is helping make carers more visible and highlighting the importance of recognising the people who care every day.

September aged care wrap-up! ✨

September was full of celebration across our residences. We marked Father's Day with special gatherings, checked in on one another for R U OK? Day, and got into the AFL Grand Final spirit with footy tipping competitions, team colours and plenty of friendly rivalry.

Whether residents were cheering for the Lions, the Dockers, or another team entirely (we seem to have a lost of Blues fans in our midst), everyone enjoyed getting into the spirit.

100 years of Margaret. 🎂

We recently celebrated a very special milestone at Corpus Christi Aged Care Residence; Margaret's 100th birthday.

Born in Ukraine to a family of German heritage, Margaret has experienced a century of history and change. She is a valued member of the Corpus Christi community, and it was lovely to see her surrounded by family, friends and fellow residents on this special day.

And if you're wondering whether Margaret still likes to get up on the dance floor at 100, the answer is a very enthusiastic yes! 💃

Happy 100th birthday, Margaret. Here's to a life well lived and a wonderful celebration!

A little connection goes a long way 💛

Today at Mannix, we paused to check in with each other for . From a lovely morning with out mates from Villa Maria Catholic Homes and some new furry friends, to taking a quiet moment to reflect on gratitude and wellbeing through craft, and wrapping up with afternoon tea, good tunes, and real conversations.

Asking "Are you OK?" isn't just a question for today - it’s a habit for every day. Check in on your mates, listen without judgment, and be there for one another.

Today is R U OK? Day 💛

A simple conversation can make a world of difference. Taking a moment to check in, listen and show someone you care can help people feel supported and less alone.

Across VMCH, residents, families and team members came together to mark the day in their own way.

At Wantirna Aged Care Residence, Barry once again spread a little joy with his much-loved free hugs. Meanwhile at Ashwood Aged Care Residence, residents and team members gathered for a coffee catch-up, with Daniel keeping everyone well supplied from the Where is My Coffee Van.

Remember, you don't need all the answers. Sometimes asking "Are you OK?" is the most important place to start.

🥇Congratulations to Anne Hawkins on being named Personality of the Year at the 108th Finley Show!

At 91½ years young, Anne continues to live independently in her own home and remains a much-loved and active member of the Finley community.

A VMCH Home Care client since 2016, Anne has dedicated more than 60 years to the Finley Show Society Inc. and is still entering the floral art and pot plant categories this year. Her contribution to the community extends far beyond the showgrounds, including 25 years with the Finley Theatre Company, where she performed leading roles in productions such as The Merry Widow and Fiddler on the Roof.

With four children, 10 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren, Anne has built a remarkable legacy both on and off the stage.

We're proud to support Anne with services that help her continue living independently and staying connected to the community she loves.

Congratulations Anne on this well-deserved recognition! 💜

Happy Father's Day to all the father figures in our VMCH community! 💜

Today we celebrate the dads, grandfathers, stepdads, carers, mentors and role models who make a difference every day. Thank you for the care, strength, kindness and guidance you bring to the lives of those around you.

We also acknowledge that Father's Day can be a challenging time for many. To those who are remembering a loved one, missing a father figure, or finding today difficult, we're thinking of you and sending our support.

Wishing everyone in our community a meaningful day, whatever it looks like for you. ✨

August aged care wrap-up ✨

There was plenty happening across our residences in August. We celebrated Aged Care Employee Day, raised a cuppa for Daffodil Day, welcomed student volunteers, got our hands dirty with some gardening fun thanks to Bunnings, and enjoyed lots of music and dancing along the way. 💃🕺
