Had such a lovely tour of the today. Thank so much to for showing us around. We got to see the tapestry celebrating the 150th anniversary of the ground, the biggest book in the collection (about NZ cricket), got possibly too excited about the Geary classification system- created by former MCC librarian Catherine Geary to manage a sport collection outside of Dewey- explored the massive array of fascinating items in the store- including MCC menus, horse racing posters and much more. And Kyleigh got out some of the highlights of the collection including a Don Bradman flip book, a cricket’s guide from 1875, the book of beards and mos (beautifully modeled by our Secretary Michael). And we had the chance to just explore the beautiful library with its incredible view. Thanks to everyone who came along, and especially for all your excellent questions.

What a week it was last week! All ALIA VIC members are back home safely and now, we'd like to share some snippets from our presentation at Conference, titled Behind the Scenes of an ALIA Group.

First you hear from Ellen our Convenor, then Michael our Secretary, Jade our Marketing and Comms person and Diane a General member.

If you are interested in what goes into running an ALIA Group (which is essentially like a Community group) then have a chat with us at our upcoming events: A tour at the MCG Library or Library Speed-dating or our Book Week Soiree.

This is Diane, one of our ordinary committee members . She does a bit of everything and supports where she can.

For us, that usually means doing whatever is needed to get our events (and many ideas) off the ground 😊

If you want to know more about the overall goal of ALIA state groups, have a chat with Diane!
