As we step into a brand new year, Greyhound Safety Net proudly celebrates 20 years of helping greyhounds find their way from kennel to couch.
It’s a milestone that fills us with both gratitude and reflection. Two decades of teamwork, with ups and downs, but most of all, our focus on dogs and families whose lives have changed for the better.

I share my foster home with a German Shepherd and I’ve met and loved many other medium and large dogs. My fellow dogs are my preferred social circle, but if you’ve brought snacks, we can be friends too.

Only one week in and BB is already living her best life with her new family. From making her own little dirt bath to tackle the warm weather, to showing off that adorable wiggling bum when she's chuffed - BB is settling in beautifully!
We love hearing how patient and understanding her new family is being with the slippery floors. Creating special carpet pathways and giving lots of encouragement - that's what it's all about! And that appetite of hers is helping her brave new challenges every day.

Isa
Meet Isa! a joyful three-year-old little with a bright personality and a love for life and food. Isa is full of energy and ready to shower you with affection and kisses. Her favourite things are cuddles and treats, though she sometimes eats a bit too quickly. A slow feeder bowl might help her slow down. She quickly learned to stay out of the kitchen, mastered using a dog door in just two tries, and has no trouble with stairs or floorboards. She responds well to her name, especially when there's nothing more exciting around!
Isa behaves well at home and can be left alone for hours, as she has access to a dog door. She's comfortable during car rides and sleeps soundly at night. While she's not one to destroy things, she might mischievously borrow a slipper to keep a piece of you close in her bed. Sometimes, she enjoys a nibble on old wood around the veranda. Isa loves her toys and is good at keeping herself entertained. She's friendly with other dogs and would be happy in a home with canine companions, but she's also content to be your solo shadow, especially in the evenings.
Isa would fit best with an active family who knows a bit about dogs, as she's still young and lively. She loves children but due to her strength and exuberance, a home with kids, perhaps older than 10, would be ideal. Isa is eager to find her forever home where she can continue to love, learn, and thrive. Could you be the special home Isa is searching for?

This week we heard the fantastic news that Gilbert has been adopted🥳
Tim began fostering Gilbert, with the help of his greyhound Wednesday, in July 2022.
Tim spent a lot of love and time nurturing this sweet boy and spent much of his weekends socialising Gilbert at greyhound walks and events and trying to find him his forever home, but we think Gilbert had other ideas. Today we are pleased to share that Gilbert has been adopted by Tim and Wednesday 🥳💕💕💕and is now in his forever home.

Not all creatures look forward to NYE though and for some dogs the night can be highly stressful and dangerous😔
Please ensure that your greyhound has a safe haven/room inside the house with windows and doors secured, blinds shut and either TV or radio on to try and distract them from the scary noises and lights. Dogs have been known to scale fences, go through windows and escape due to the fireworks and noise. If possible a human home would be preferred but if this is not possible and your dog does have to be outside, please ensure your backyard is secure, gates and fences are secured and your dog has a safe area to go to. The Lost Dog’s Home and other animal shelters get inundated at this time of the year and we pray all our dogs are safe to enjoy 2024💕Looking forward to helping more greyhounds find their forever homes in the New Year and spending time with our 2 and 4 legged friends 🥳🎉🎊
