It was great to connect with members at this week's Mildura Member Briefing, where we shared the latest Guild updates and heard directly about the opportunities and challenges facing community pharmacies in the region.

Along the way, we stopped in at Lake Boga Pharmacy, Marraboor Pharmacy, Irymple Pharmacy and Ouyen Pharmacy to catch up with their teams and see firsthand the important work they do for their communities every day.

Victorians can now access treatment for more common health conditions through their local community pharmacy, with trained pharmacists able to initiate treatment for gastro-oesophageal reflux disease (GORD) and resupply medication and treatment for menopausal hormone therapy (MHT) without needing an additional prescription.

But there's still more that can be done to ensure Victorians can access the care they need, when and where they need it.

That's why we are calling on all sides of politics to support autonomous prescribing for appropriately trained pharmacists, giving patients more options to access safe, timely and convenient healthcare through their local pharmacy while helping ease pressure on the healthcare system.

More services. More access. Less pressure on the healthcare system.

The Guild today welcomed the Victorian Government 's announcement that community pharmacists can now initiate treatment for gastroesophageal reflux disease (GORD) and resupply menopausal hormone therapy (MHT), helping patients access timely care at their local pharmacy without unnecessary delays.

These reforms build on the growing role pharmacies play in delivering safe, convenient healthcare and demonstrate why autonomous prescribing is the next step for Victoria.
