Are you a current or former first responder? Do you suffer from Post Traumatic Stress or known of a colleague that does (or you suspect they do)? Or maybe you want to promote having conversations around mental health within your agency?
TJF - The Journey Forward is a first responder mental health charity and peer support group set up by two former police officers that helps other emergency services personnel navigate through mental health issues. They also ‘pay it forward’ by having BBQs at Victorian police stations and at some Operation Soul Surf sessions to have conversations about mental health.
Founders, Cleve & Dave who volunteer their time and energy, do a fantastic job helping current and former first responders, but it all costs money - from organising and paying for activities to help participants, to purchasing meat, bread, sauce, gas bottles, etc to hold BBQs.
I’m one of many former and current first responders who have benefited greatly from TJF - The Journey Forward and that’s why this November I will be journeying 2500km, solo & unassisted, to raise funds for TJF.
Check out https://www.tjf.au/ if you’re a former or current first responder and want to know more about TJF.
