Are you over-running your groundballs?

The unique shape of the AFL football makes it harder to read off the ground than a round ball 🏀 ⚽️

Being able to judge how the ball bounces is a skill, this drill is very simple and allows you to adapt to the unpredictability of the AFL ball 🏉

This is also a great drill that you can try with your team, getting more players involved to get athletes feel comfortable gathering the ball in traffic.

Key principles include:

- short quick feet (before the gather)
- drive legs once you pick the ball up

Abbey has also been one of the first track and field athletes selected for the upcoming Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games.
