Today is Global Recycling Day. We want to recognise every small action you take: rinsing that bottle, sorting the container, maintaining the habit.

Those choices matter. They reduce waste, conserve resources, and demonstrate real care for our planet.

But recycling on its own will not solve the problem.

We need greater action: stronger regulations, products designed for longevity and reuse, circular systems, and sustained pressure on the forces driving excessive waste.

At Prior Family Foundation, we support bold organisations working to preserve our environment, protect wildlife, and honour First Nations cultures and ways of caring for Country—driving the fundamental, lasting changes our planet requires across these vital areas.

Every step you take contributes. Every partnership strengthens the effort.

So keep recycling, and keep standing with us in the fight to preserve our environment, wildlife, and cultures. 🌍♻️

Happy International Women’s Day 2026! ⚖️✊♀️

This year's theme, highlights the need for fair justice systems so every woman and girl can be safe, heard, respected, and free to lead.

The Prior Family Foundation partners with organisations working to preserve the environment, protect wildlife, honour cultures, strengthen communities, and advance health and social impact. A key part of this is the strong leadership from women across these partners.

Here are some of the women leading the organisations we support:

Sallie Prior, Co-Founder & Director, – shaping our focus on conservation, cultural preservation, and community action.

Heather Campbell, CEO, Greening Australia – overseeing large-scale environmental restoration and First Nations-led projects like Reef Aid.

Jane Tewson AO, CBE, Founder, Igniting Change - developing programs that use storytelling for positive social change.

Michelle Endacott, CEO, The King's Trust Australia – delivering opportunities for young people, veterans, and communities.

Dr Elisa Raulings, Director, The Talia Institute – guiding work on biodiversity, climate solutions, and ecological initiatives.

Debra Robertson APM, CEO, Victoria Police Legacy – providing scholarships and support for police families and frontline members.

Professor Sharon Lewin AO, Director, Doherty Institute: leading research, public health and education in infectious diseases and immunology.

These leaders are making real contributions in areas aligned with our mission. This IWD, we're recognising their roles in building a more equitable and sustainable future.

Tired of endless laundry? Your synthetic clothes (polyester, nylon, activewear) are likely making it worse. They trap sweat, odors, and bacteria, needing washing after almost every wear. That means more loads, higher energy/water/detergent costs, and thousands of microplastic fibres released per wash into our waterways, polluting rivers, oceans, and wildlife.

In Australia, laundry from synthetics is a major source of microplastic pollution, harming marine life and ecosystems we’re committed to protecting. Switching to natural fibres (cotton, linen, wool) can reduce laundry frequency by 30–50%, saving $50–$150 per person annually on household bills. Ministry of the Future's free Plastic Swaps Savings Calculator shows your personalised figures in seconds (link in bio—based on real Aussie prices and conservative estimates).

This is just one practical swap from Plastics: Unsealed, their campaign to make plastic pollution relatable through health, wallet, and environmental wins. Other easy changes stack up: shampoo/conditioner bars (~$110–$150 saved), reusable coffee pods (~$110), period reusables (~$120–$240), makeup wipes (~$50+), bar soap (~$7), and more. These reduce plastic waste at home while delivering real savings during cost-of-living pressures.

But individual actions go further with systemic change. Producers profit from single-use packaging without covering disposal or pollution costs. Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) laws can fix that. Add your voice to Boomerang Alliance's Cut the Wrap open letter for stronger national rules and accountability (link in bio).

As the Prior Family Foundation, we’re proud to support and efforts like Plastics: Unsealed that preserve our environment, protect vulnerable ecosystems, and empower communities.

We were lucky to capture this beautiful chat between Vidusha from and Jane from reflecting on how Vidusha became a volunteer for Wellsprings for Women, tutoring English online to girls in Afghanistan.

The Prior Foundation has been a long‑time supporter and partner of Igniting Change, and this moment shows why the relationship matters. Igniting Change often brings people together in small, purposeful ways, inviting supporters to see their programs up close and meet people they might never cross paths with otherwise. You never really know what might come from showing up to one of those visits.

For Vidusha, one of those visits led to an introduction to Wellsprings for Women. Three years later, she’s still tutoring girls in Afghanistan every week. It’s a quiet, powerful example of what can grow from connection.

As 2025 comes to a close, we're grateful. 🌏

Grateful for the partnerships that challenged us to think differently. For the leaders who shared their knowledge and vision. For the communities who trusted us to walk alongside them.

To everyone in the Prior Family Foundation community - the grantees, partners, collaborators, and supporters who make this work possible - thank you. Your resilience, creativity, and commitment inspire us every single day.

As we head into 2026, we're carrying forward the lessons of this year: that the best solutions already exist in communities, that listening matters more than having all the answers, and that hope is built through action, not optimism alone.

Here's to a new year of connection, impact, and possibility.

From all of us at Prior Family Foundation we wish you happy holidays and all the best for the new year. See you in 2026. 🌊✨

2025! A year of connection, growth, and impact 🌏

As we close out another year, we're reflecting on the incredible work we've been privileged to support and the amazing people we've had the honor of learning from.
From supporting Indigenous business leadership through Dilin Duwa Centre scholarships, to continuing our founding partnership with Citizens of the Reef for their 6th Great Reef Census, to partnering with The King's Trust Australia's "Get Into Reef" programme and Regen Studios - this year has been about empowering the changemakers doing the real work.

Our 2025 Roundtable brought together young environmental leaders for fresh perspectives, and we marked 10 years of the Prior Family Foundation, not as a celebration of ourselves, but as a moment to honor the people and places that have shaped our journey.
Thank you to every organization, leader, and community member who trusted us with their work this year. This impact is yours.

Here's to 2026 and the work ahead. 🌊

We're excited to officially welcome Ministry of the Future ( ) as our newest partner! 🌏

Climate communication isn't working the way it should. Too often, it's alienating the very people we need to engage - turning them off with doom-scrolling, guilt trips, and messaging that makes climate action feel like a luxury only some can afford.

Ministry of the Future is changing that. They're creating climate content that's accessible, honest, and actually engaging. No elitism. No preaching. Just real talk about the environmental challenges we're facing and practical ways forward.

We're proud to support their work in building a new kind of climate conversation - one that brings people in instead of pushing them away.

Welcome to the Prior Family Foundation community, Ministry of the Future. We can't wait to see the impact you'll make.

🐒🌍 Monkey Day 2025 is coming up in just a couple days. This day is a reminder that primates are part of our shared family tree — and their survival is deeply connected to ours.

This year’s theme highlights awareness: from habitat loss to exploitation, monkeys face challenges that demand global attention. Protecting primates means protecting the ecosystems and communities that depend on them.
We also remember the late Dr. Jane Goodall, whose groundbreaking work with chimpanzees transformed our understanding of primates and inspired generations to act for conservation. Her legacy reminds us that what we do makes a difference — and we must decide what kind of difference we want to make.

On December 14, we join the call to reflect, learn, and act for a future where wildlife and people thrive together. 🐵🌿

With COP30 kicking off and leaders gathered in Brazil, many have already taken to the stage to share their thoughts on climate change. Whilst being dubbed "the Forest COP" many leaders are speaking up not about forests specifically , but about different themes, namely international cooperation, climate denial, and the need for urgent action.
Some leaders were blunt in their criticism of those who were not in attendance, while others such as the Prince of Wales had more optimistic messages to spread. Prince William's comments have resonated with us, especially his words around nature and its importance to life, culture and community. We look forward to learning more about COP30 as it unfolds.
