Victorian Forest Alliance Alliance of grass roots groups fighting for protection & restoration of native forests from logging Our purpose:

1.

Facilitate interaction and collaboration between environment groups to support the protection and restoration of native forests in Victoria.

2. Develop and employ effective strategies to protect and restore native forests in Victoria.

3. Ensure that the measures proposed to protect and restore the ecological integrity of native forests are grounded in science.

4. Show solidarity with First Nati

ons Peoples by developing meaningful relationships that amplify mobs’ voices and cultural values.

5. Increase public awareness of how preserving and restoring native forest can address the consequences of extractive industries.

6. Support alternatives to extractive industries. We would like to acknowledge that the Victorian Forest Alliance operates on the Sovereign Land of First Nation Peoples. The forests we defend and restore are unceded Lands. The name “Victorian” Forest Alliance has been chosen to geographically locate our broad based alliance. We recognise and respect that the forests we work to protect exist on a number of different Sovereign Aboriginal Nations and we pay our respects to their elders past and present.

The Victorian Forest Survey group is documenting hollow-bearing tree collapse in a recent planned burn just outside Kinglake National Park. A huge number have been destroyed, no longer providing crucial habitat for threatened species like phascogales. A government study from 2016 shows on average 25% of hollow bearing trees collapse in planned burns and many more are damaged, making them more likely to collapse in the next fire. “Stag trees” are most vulnerable to collapse in a planned burns because they have lots of hollows and exposed deadwood which are entry points for even low severity fire.

Instead of punishing and harassing wildlife rescuers and bending over backwards to protect the interests of a small number of people who enjoy slaughtering native animals including threatened species, how cool would it be if the state put those efforts into protecting nature for biodiversity and the enjoyment of most of us.

We hope you’ll join us to get nature on the agenda for the next election and beyond 💪🗳️🌎🌱💥

You will have noticed that Victoria’s nature is being thoroughly screwed over – loopholes, backflips, funding stripped, promises shelved, constant destruction on so many fronts.

Stop the F*ckery is a campaign that names what’s happening and keeps a public record of every instance, across forests, fish, fauna, funding and feral species.

It’s all on the website (link in the comments). Please head over to get involved.
