Congratulations 🌟

Congratulations to the women who participated in the Go Girls Program on Friday. The women from South Gippsland spent the day at Wonthaggi exploring their dreams, discussing their fears and making plans for their future. The women now have a month to execute their plans of action and are supported by a buddy system. We can't wait to see them at the next workshop where they will continue their journey of empowerment.

Wow a few months have passed.
Nearly $21,000 raised for the Go Girls Foundation and so many memories spoken about.

Our team of 20 still strong and the banter and laughs are plenty 😁

On Saturday night we came together to watch this fabulous video https://youtu.be/B3NRCoixOLw Steph created of our adventure.

We laughed, we cried, we hugged and laughed a whole lot more. We are all so proud of the way we courageously and compassionately supported eachother and felt we aligned with the Go Girls values of connection, honour, celebrate, support, acceptance and compassion.

A huge thank you to our sponsors whom you will see at the end of the video.

There is also a beautiful tribute to our Go Girl Fleur Stefani who was with us in spirit along the way.

**Monthly Prom Hike**
Bringing together like-minded people for a monthly hike in Gippsland (predominantly Prom Country)
Happy Hikers creates and nurtures connections with people in the Gippsland community.

We meet on the last Friday of the month at 9:30am.
We always aim to complete the hike by 2pm so people can do school pick if necessary.

Bring along some morning tea to share after the hike and your thermos or keep cup for a cuppa.

The hike we do will be advised within a week or 2 prior to the set hike date on our HAPPY HIKERS - GIPPSLAND

Hiked to the Light, November 2021

Today 5 girls from the represented the entire team and were able to celebrate and witness the culmination of Work Ready Program.

A beautiful group of 11 women made the commitment to this program. Today they graduated.

The focus was on personal development which enabled the women to overcome obstacles that traditionally get in the way of successfully becoming employed.

These 11 women experienced a sense of belonging into the Go Girl Community and gained a stronger sense of self and now have more control of their lives.

The gorgeous .little.bit.of.sunnya who is a graduate of the Work Ready Program came over and wanted a photo with us, and Sania is going to be doing a hike with us very soon!!! We can’t wait.

It’ll be a super fun night with Dave O’Neill and then dancing the night away till late.

$55 ticket price and BYO food and drinks (or food options available).

There’s always the option to book a night at a local motel or BNB or alternatively there is the option of self contained caravanning available on the Meeniyan Rec Reserve so plan to stay the night so we can have a bevy or two.

Hiking for a cause .Go Girls Hike to the light.

Also known as Tarz, Tars, and more recently Tarzo!!

The Prom has been a holiday destination since a small child. Tara made the sea change to Yanakie approx 5 years ago to be with her partner Tom and his spoilt chickens!

She enjoys the easy living and relaxed pace of country life; although taking on three part time jobs keeps her on her toes.

She has hiked most of the trails in the Prom including the Lighthouse with younger legs, so she knows what she is in for and isn’t sure if that is good or bad 😉

Friendships, kindness and inclusion are some of the core values that feature at the heart of who Tara is. Setting and achieving goals, whilst also remembering it is important to enjoy the journey, is also something she strongly believes in.

Her passion for Go Girls started when she was lucky enough to form a friendship with Michelle Jobson.

Michelle’s enthusiasm and passion for enriching the lives of so many women through the work of the Go Girls Foundation is certainly contagious.

Tara is proud to have been involved in the Hike to the Light journey from the initial discussions with Jess Johnson, to where we are today; potentially raising enough money to sponsor at least 6 women from Gippsland to help them gain the skills and confidence to get back into the workforce and become financially independent through an intensive Work Ready Program. Thankful for the support we give each other, from everyone around her and immensely grateful to all our Hike to the Light sponsors.

When Tara walks up the last hill towards the lighthouse with her best friend Steph, Jess and her 17 new amazing friends, she will be very relieved, honoured and proud and no doubt looking forward to watching the sunset whilst having a well earned celebratory drink.

There will also be one very special Go Girl taking every step with us and in the hearts of every member of the team - Fleur who recently and tragically lost her short battle with brain cancer.
